Muslims the backbone of the UK economy? (apparently)?

that is total rubbish. Muslims only do well in countries that are predominately of other faiths, because the muslim faith bans certain practices like interest, borrowing, lending and certain taxes and whatever else. They need to be bolstered by someone elses business laws. Geez they even have special dispensation by western banks to buy a house on a mortgage without interest. Their faith also bans them from certain proximity to 'unclean' employment or buildings or people.

In my home town the only muslim enterprise I see are kebab shops and mobile phone shops. I'm sure there are hi-flyers out there but they've contributed what exactly? They're only British when it suits them when they're not busy being 'muslim first' while the rest of Britain gets on with the work.

That comment seems to have come from some very over-inflated ego's! The only people that are the backbone of Britain, are the true British people, generations of them making the country. What annoys me is this classification of Muslims against British, for example, Muslim is meant to be regarded as a religion, whereas, to be British is a nationality, the two are different, but I detest all this "I'm a Muslim so you can't get me" attitude, they are the root cause of so many conflicts worldwide, through their cult thinking, they need to get things more in perspective and really look at what the Koran preaches, and stop looking at all the different ways to interpret one verse or phrase ...

Everybody has potential to do good in a country. We shouldn't care what religion or race the person is because people from all religions, cultures, countries can contribute to making a good country. There can be important and helpful people coming from all walks of life. Remember, everyone is different.

Where the hell did that one come from? There are an estimated 2 million Muslims in England. If they are the backbone of the country, all I can say is, what are the 58 million non-Muslims doing? Sitting on their backsides? Get real!

Why all this hatred? The terrorists may not have succeeded in blowing up planes this week but they sure seem to have incited enough bile judging by the questions on yahoo over the past couple of days. It's really quite scary what fear does to people. You can't let them win by making everyone suspicious of each other. Surely everyone contributes to society? By mere definition of the word.....

I don't know how you could justify such a conclusion since there is a lot more to the British economy than convenience stores and hotels. BUT... if it wasn't for the Muslims, you would starve to death when you needed to buy groceries on Christmas Day.

I wonder how this person could speak in general as i have read many newspaper articles stating that one sector of musllims do not believe in giving anything to the uk government including car tax and insurance

Was this on the BBC? I find them very pro ethnic minorities and anti Israel etc.
