i believe this to be very true... prayer does not make the world better, action does, and so action always has to come first

It depends on what your definition of prayer is. Mine is any communication with God. I wouldn't consider your example as the "best" prayer. To me the best prayer would be to love God with all my Being. Granted that can be done serving others, but that is one way, not the best way.

The only place one needs go to for prayer is the heart. Once the prayer rises in the heart, it reaches God's ear.

I am not a christian, however I do know the bible rather well. I hate to answer a question with a question but, what do you think god would enjoy more; people sitting in a man made church or enjoying the world that he made (meaning nature). If you feel like praising god do it where he meant us to in the world that he made. Although I do not believe for sure in god this is how I believe things should be. Argue this idea if you like.

I dont think that people need to go to a church to pray. God hears prayers regardless of where they are coming from.

Hold the prayer and pass on a life of good deeds and thoughts. Through a life of active virtual you will achieve whatever hallowed halls you are looking for.

Anything a person does to improve himself or the world around him is more effective than any ritual or appeal to imaginary entities.

Picking up litter and depositing it in the proper receptacle in a public place does more good than attending church.

Not true according to the Christ...He said, "The poor you will have with you always and ye may do good to them whenever you wish, but Me ye will not have always."

Therefore when opportunities arise to serve the Master that takes a priority and the poor will be in turn cared for.

Prayer is communicating with God..speaking and LEARNING to listen not performing alms.

Yes with no job or welfare..i could sure use some food over prayer anyday.

I agree, in the Jewish religion, this is a commandmant, especially on the Sabbath, that we give to the poor and help.
