From my personal experience my favorites are Sony cybershot T series and Casio Exillim series. Sony T9 is what you need but of course you would have to pay a little extra which is well worth it. For good quality photos reckon for a 5.0 Mega Pixels or more. Sony T9 is 6.0 Mega pixels and has everything else you would ever require including anti-shake, flash, long life battery, close focus and a large display. This tiny marvel is about the size of a credit card. The other models for that price range are the T1 and the T7. Lovable cameras!

What ever you do...DO NOT get an HP because they SUCK! I recommend getting a Sony Cybershot. It's high quality and very easy to use. I bought mine about a year and a half ago and I still love it and use it all the time. Digital cameras have gone down in price a little bit since I've bought mine. I paid about $250 for mine. If you get a Sony Cybershot...you won't be disappointed. It's a high quality camera for those people who don't need professional cameras.

While I love Nikon cameras, I'd suggest the Canon A620. We did a lot of shopping while trying to stay in the under $400 range and this is exactly what we bought for our adult son before he went on a trip to Europe. For that money, you can get the camera and a one gigabyte memory card. The A620 lets you control everything, if you know how, or it takes great shots in several automatic modes. This has been the Comcast Shopping Top Choice for months now. It uses "AA" batteries, too.
