My friend who works at the post office, told me that they had recently opened a letter addressed to God,?
the letter was unstamped and poorly written, but very touching, it was from an elderly lady and pleaded with God to help her , because her savings of $200 had been stolen, and she was worried about food and paying her bills.. so all of the postal workers decided to chip in, they were able to come up with $180, and sent it to the old lady, making sure it was delivered the very next day.... a week later they found another letter from this same lady to God, and thinking she was saying thank you to God they opened it , and it said" Dear God, thank you for the $180 dollars, that helped so much, I dont know what would have happened with out it... PS, it was $20 short, but that was probably the thieving workers at the post office..".. do you think they should answer her lastest mail, and if so how should they handle it?

Thanks so much and pity these poor people who don't get the humor or that this clearly did not really happen. Some of the responses here only serve to make it funnier! Anyway, to answer the question - they should answer the letter by explaining that the $20 was his tip to the postal workers for their service. Since most people don't realize you should tip your mail man, God tips them 20%, and from now on she should, too.

whilst you're bearing on the united kingdom positioned up place of work then the regulation is that any letter as quickly as published is the valuables of the guy it extremely is addressed to. you won't be able to reclaim it. If the handle replaced into incorrect and did no longer exist then the postal worker could be entitled to open the letter to attempt and discover the sender so as that it may desire to be decrease back. whether I fairly think of that has in all threat no longer got here approximately as a results of fact the 60s, in recent times i could think of that it basically is going interior the bin. If it had a valid handle, whether it replaced into incorrect, then the postal worker could be breaking the regulation in the event that they interfered with it in any way.

Oh that was a good one.
Ignorant people, the practice of opening undelivered letters had been authorized by Congress during the Revolutionary War.
It was not deliverable as there is no god.

I find this story hard to believe. Some people are patological liars and will lie about anything to make their life sound interesting. I think the next time I go into the post office, I will ask the postmaster if that would/could happen. I doubt it very seriously. Inquiring minds want to know (mine does anyway)!

that's funny-God should reply and say it was short $20 because she only had another week to live and didn't need the $20.

It's nice to know that your friends are comitting a federal offense by opening people's mail. I would suggest that they stop before they get caught. Sure hope your friends don't live.work in Illinois.
