Mormons, your religion DOES believe in a goddess mother! Did you know that?

Joseph Fielding Smith:

"The fact that there is no reference to a mother in heaven either in the Bible, Book of Mormon or Doctrine and Covenants, is not sufficient proof that no such thing as a mother did exist there.... does not common sense tell us that we must have had a mother there also?" (Answers to Gospel Questions, vol. 3, p.142).

Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a Woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a Mother. The begetting of children makes a man a father and a woman a mother whether we are dealing with man in his mortal or immortal state. This doctrine that there is a Mother in Heaven was affirmed in plainness by the First Presidency of the Church (Joseph F. Smith)

Update:

My point is this; If God is a person and there is only one God, and if in the Book of Deuteronomy He says that He knows of no other Gods besides Himself, how can there be a mother goddess? If there are no other god's besides God then where did goddess mother come from?

Update 2:

The Trinity is in the Bible.

When Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit was on His shoulder, Jesus was wet and God spoke saying that He was pleased with His Son.

The Trinity is not a man made myth. But why do Mormons not believe the Trinity that is a mystery to me. Firthermore, the Bible clearly states that God is a Spirit, not a flesh and bones person. If the Bible is the Word of God then how can it be wrong?

CHRISTIANS!!! You realize that you do not have the gospel in its entirety? Do you realize that not even us Mormons have all truth in its entirety? There is an infinite amount of knowledge un-had by us humans. For instance… What are the mansions in heaven built out of? Where specifically is heaven? Does Jesus fly around, or does he translate when he travels from Heaven to Earth?

My point being, just because you are ignorant to the answer, does not mean it is not there. For example: Just because you don’t know what color my hair is.. does not mean my hair has no color. And Just because the bible never mentions a Mother in heaven, does not mean that one does or does not exist.

I am so DAMNED sick of Christians telling me what I do or don’t believe. I know what I believe! I know WHY I believe it! I even know what you believe about MY belief’s! Your problem as a Christian, is that you are fighting a one sided argument! Have you even bothered to step outside you angst for a second to look at the reasons why we believe what we believe? You really think all of us Mormons are too dense to make our own decisions? In Fact! We’re taught to search out our own answers, and to gain a testimony of all things. We’re taught to research our beliefs, and pray about them until the Holy Spirit gives us a definitive answer. I propose to you to change your (ALL CHRISTIANS) train of though from, “Why those Mormons are wrong” to “Why do those Mormons believe that?” If you can put your “Joseph Smith was crazy” biased books, and maybe pick up some “Why we believe this” books like say… “Cowley’s talks on Doctrine,” or “Seven Claims of the Book of Mormon,” or shoot… 90% of all your “Mormons are stupid” claims are shot to all hell on Jeff Lindsay’s website.

If you want to keep this a one sided argument, stay ignorant, and just shut the hell up. I know you want me to go to hell for my beliefs… I'm fine with that. Just leave me alone. But if you want to sound intelligible, read into WHY we believe what we do.

And I’ll tell you right now… If Mormonism even were a fraud, it’s a MUCH better fraud than your Christian church.

    I didn’t proof read this… so sorry for it’s jumpy-ness.

Source(s): Anything besides those "Mormons are wrong because" books... And a few of those as well.

Jim you recognize that Joseph Smith taught that interior the spirit international (the place Lucifer could have been considered a "brother" as a results of fact he replaced into as quickly as reliable) none human beings rather had a mom as a results of fact our spirits weren't created, yet continuously have existed. you won't be able to make something out of no longer something. You do understand this, yet here, you fake to no longer. Our doctrine is authentic approximately Lucifer. Even his call ability "bearer of light and morning celebrity". isn't it exciting that Jesus is termed the comparable? there replaced right into a rebellion of Lucifer. He fell from heaven. Why could he fall if he have been on no account up? Morning is the symbolic call of the time we existed in the previous this mortal life. we are all morning stars, we are people who shouted for exhilaration whilst Christ replaced into chosen as our Savior. Lucifer replaced right into a "son of the morning". it extremely is all Biblical too. job 38:7 Psa 147:4 Rev 22:sixteen

The logic of Smith's statement is sound. Lack of a reference to something in the Bible does not preclude its existence. And common sense does tell us that if we are God's spirit children and he is our spirit father...there should be a mother somewhere in the mix...

I know, call them a 'cult' because it's just too hard to think outside the box... <sigh>

One of the only things good about Mormonism is that Joseph Smith stole Conjugal Love doctrine from Swedenborg. Other than that they have no conception of what "Father" and "Mother" stand for in God's law of correspondences - or that God is actually a marriage of Divine Love and Divine Wisdom. They cannot have that doctrine now because of too many "official" church writings from their leaders.

Yes I did. Who ever heard of a Father without a Mother?

Yes I did. What's your point? Is it harmful to believe that we would also have a goddess mother? To me it makes sense since God is our Father in Heaven and we were created in his image. Since he has us pair up with memebers of the opposite sex it makes sense that he would too.

Makes perfect sense, hu? I firmly believe we have a Heavenly Mother and that her "identity" or the discussion of her has been kept sacred so she is not slandered as Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are.

Was someone saying we don't believe that?

Yep. I like the idea of a Woman influencing everything that’s going on.

aren't mormon teachings wonderfully logical. Must be because they are true :- )

PS why would you assume we wouldn't know what our own beliefs are? and then tell my why the concept of the Trinity makes any sense...
