Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

What is the benefit of asking questions here?

It costs 5 points. When it resolves you only get 3 back (unless no best answer was the return then you get the initial 5 back). It appears that the only way to advance is to answer and vote, but if everyone does this, what will we answer and vote on?

The true benefit of asking questions is knowledge.

Knowledge is something that cannot be stripped from you and is priceless.

If your concern is points then the whole purpose of the question and answer section of yahoo is hindered on your behalf from unneccassary worrry.

This is like "Who's Line Is It Anyway" with Drew Carrie, the points don't reall matter. Just sit back and enjoy this awesome free service from Yahoo.
