If a right triangle has an angle of 9 degrees and the nearest side is 7 feet, how long is opposite side?

I need to figure the coverage of some light bulbs. assuming a dis tance of 7',

    it's 7 x tan(9), or a bit over 1' 1". I assume that the beam spread totals 18 degrees; the circle of light would be 2' 2" in diameter at 7 foot distance.

    Get your graphing calc and do sin 81 * x = sin 9 *7, then simplify.

    let it be opposite side be x

    now use the trigonometric ratio tan theta=opposite side/adjacent side
