What is ment by these verses?

Isaiah 32

5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal , nor the churl said to be bountiful.

6 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

Update:

LIBERAL:

OT:5081 nadiyb (naw-deeb'); from OT:5068; properly, voluntary, i.e. generous; hence, magnanimous; as noun, a grandee (sometimes a tyrant):

KJV - free, liberal (things), noble, prince, willing ([hearted]).

Update 2:

To the Following:

Saved

and L.O. D. Tiger who I loved the simple line-

Very Good

There are some others that tried very well.

If I had maybe 30,000 characters I may be able to fully state its meaning!

    Isaiah 32 (NIV)

    5 No longer will the fool be called noble

    nor the scoundrel be highly respected.

    6 For the fool speaks folly,

    his mind is busy with evil:

    He practices ungodliness

    and spreads error concerning the LORD;

    the hungry he leaves empty

    and from the thirsty he withholds water.

    7 The scoundrel's methods are wicked,

    he makes up evil schemes

    to destroy the poor with lies,

    even when the plea of the needy is just.

    8 But the noble man makes noble plans,

    and by noble deeds he stands.

    "When the righteous King comes, peoples motives will become TRANSPARENT. FOOLS WILL NOT BE REGARDED AS NOBLE. Those who have opposed God's standards of living will be unable to maintain their DECEPTION. In the blazing light of the Holy Savior, sin cannot disguise itself and appear good. Christ's revealing light shines into the darkest corners of our hearts, showing sin clearly for what it is. When King Jesus reigns in your heart, there is no place for sin, no matter how well hidden you may think it is. (Life Application Study Bible New International Version)

    Of course, you know this is going to get the Atheists all worked up. I've never seen a more spiteful group of people as those I've met here in Yahoo! Answers who label themselves with that title. They don't try for an intelligent conversation, they just try to bully and insult. Sad people.

    Churl: a rude ill-bred person; a stingy morose person (Merrian- Webster)

    The KJV is a good word for word translation but sometimes you can get an idea of what a passage means by looking at other translations.

    Isaiah 32:6-8 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. 8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

    ESV - Isaiah 32:5 The fool will no more be called noble, nor the scoundrel said to be honorable. 6 For the fool speaks folly, and his heart is busy with iniquity, to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the LORD, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink. 7 As for the scoundrel--his devices are evil; he plans wicked schemes to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right. 8 But he who is noble plans noble things, and on noble things he stands.

    MSG - Isaiah 32:5 No more will fools become celebrities, nor crooks be rewarded with fame. 6 For fools are fools and that's that, thinking up new ways to do mischief. They leave a wake of wrecked lives and lies about GOD, Turning their backs on the homeless hungry, ignoring those dying of thirst in the streets. 7 And the crooks? Underhanded sneaks they are, inventive in sin and scandal, Exploiting the poor with scams and lies, unmoved by the victimized poor. 8 But those who are noble make noble plans, and stand for what is noble.

    That's had words deleted and inserted in their place. The real Isaiah 32:5 - 8 says:

    32:5 A fool will no longer be called honorable;

    a deceiver will no longer be called principled.

    32:6 For a fool speaks disgraceful things;

    his mind plans out sinful deeds.

    He commits godless deeds

    and says misleading things about the Lord;

    he gives the hungry nothing to satisfy their appetite

    and gives the thirsty nothing to drink.

    32:7 A deceiver’s methods are evil;

    he dreams up evil plans

    to ruin the poor with lies,

    even when the needy are in the right.

    32:8 An honorable man makes honorable plans;

    his honorable character gives him security.

    You need to read the first four verses before you read and question 5-8. The first verse says "Behold a king shall reign in righteousness,...." with further study you would see the King isJesus, The Messiah. and it goes on to say some of what will happen....

    Then it says in v 5-8 what the bad guys will do... churl is rude person...a liberal one is much what a liberal is today...anti God.....and the liberal one will be called what he really is... vile

    very few verses can be taken out of the context and stand alone... the ones you cite need many others to supply the needed history and proper context.... That is why it is called "Bible Study" not bible read... .

    32:5 No more will fools become celebrities, nor crooks be rewarded with fame.

    32:6 For fools are fools and that's that, thinking up new ways to do mischief. They leave a wake of wrecked lives and lies about God, Turning their backs on the homeless hungry, ignoring those dying of thirst in the streets.

    32:7 And the crooks? Underhanded sneaks they are, inventive in sin and scandal, Exploiting the poor with scams and lies, unmoved by the victimized poor.

    32:8 But those who are noble make noble plans, and stand for what is noble.

    Maybe these verses from another version of the Bible will help.

    Liberal means generous in original text.

    Liberality brings deliverance in time of need. Read a bit further for more detail of liberal in Is 58 verses 10-11

    So the vile shall no more be called liberal, for the vile do not bring generosity or deliverance in time of need.

    Churl means a rude obnoxious person.

    So what he is saying is that the rude and obnoxious and the vile (physical or morrally corrupt) will not produce works that will help the needy and the poor, in fact they will produce words and works that will actually harm the needy and the poor.

    But the liberal (generous) will produce words and works that will feed the needy and the poor with not only their physical needs , but also with true spiritual words for their spiritual needs.

    vs 5 the vile,(vulgar,obscene etc) Sin will be called sin instead of saying "whatever you believe......

    the churl (greedy) will no longer be looked on as being generous.

    vs 6 -8 The motives will be shown and they will be exposed. they will not be willing to admit they were wrong. They will stand by what they have practiced.

    I have not done a deep study on this, but basically that is what it seems to be saying.

    Don't be discouraged about studying the old testament. Without it we cannot get a full grasp of the new testament.

    As the coming King.Evil people will no longer be seen as noble.The greedy will no longer be seen as rich.The wicked will speak wickedly in his heart and always sin.He will give false doctrine to the faithful.In his presence those that hunger and thirst after righteousness will do without. The wicked will stand in the holy places speaking lies to snare the faithful to become rich

    Source(s): The Bible alone, I never did this particular study but This speaks of false doctrine , teachers and priest , preventing the living water of Gods word that gives eternal life.

    I don't know your age or your belief system, thus this is a challenge. Our governments are often fine examples of this! Even the U.S.A , All of these truly points at the USA govt. By one of the Senators it was stated, You are taking away from those that need it the most! When they fail to take care of the young and old and disabled, # 7 pretty much says it all!
