My cats have gotton Tapeworm, roundworm, hook worm or ringworm from eating birds and mice so you should worm them with an all wormer every 3 months so they don't get re-infected, wash all the beds they sleep in, just wash everything they usually hang around like a favourite chair or a blanket and if they have been on your bed you should wash your bed sheets as well as the worm eggs could be anywhere,
It is rare but humans can catch worms off there pets, but this is very uncommon.
You can usually tell when your cat has worms as the cat is grooming in the bottom area alot and you see white stringie things on it's fur, it's easy to tell if you look in there bed as you can see things like dried up rice things and that's worms my friend.

If a cat eats a rodent, it will most likely get any and all of the worms the rodent has. Tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms. If your cat has been exposed take the cat to the vet for a fecal exam. They can deworm the cat the same day. Remember, you must deworm again in two weeks. I don't know why vets can't remember to tell people this, but if you don't do it, the eggs with hatch out and they will be infested again.
