People laugh at me because I easily forget, it's terrible when they do that!

Part of the reason you forget is because your mind is cluttered with other things while the event you wish to remember is taking place. Try to focus on the here and now. Don't daydream too much.
Plus play 'association', i.e associate the 'task' with something else. Or carry around a notebook and make notes on what you wish to remember.
Make sure you're on a balanced and nutritious diet. I used to be forgetful until I realized I suffered from hypoglycemia and my brain was not getting enough glucose so I could not concentrate.
Good luck- let us know which advice you took and if it worked or not.

One way to improve your memory is to play diffrent memory games with yourself, such as on your way somewhere pay attention to the things you pass then wait about five minutes and see what you can remember. Also when you are with friends have a memory game say study a picture for 1 minute then list all the things you remember seeing in the picture the one who remembers the most is the winner. As you get better at it then you can add bigger pictures and longer time lapses.

Make sure you get enough sleep, try to figure out what stress you have in your life, that could be distracting even subconsciously. If your memory is a real problem, see a doc. You may have low blood sugar or an iron deficiency, any number of physical causes can make you have a poor memory.

Next time pay more attention while you do some tasks. Stop a second and think over your acts. You'll see an improvement soon.

Use post-it notes. That way, when you have an idea, write it down and slap it to your forehead. Then, you'll have people come up to you all the time and remind you of what you forgot.

Exercise, eat a healthy diet, and take ginkgo biloba. It really works. Takes a week or two, but mine improved a lot, as I recall.
