running tasks and processes?

I have win 2000 and when I look in the task manager there are soooo many things going on and I'm sure their not needed and taking up a lot of memory. Is there an internet site where I can find out what does not need to be running? I've looked all through microsoft.com and compaq.com (my pc is compaq) and could not find an answer. If anyone can help me please email me if you need more information. Thanks!

The others are right not to delete anything your not sure of.

Here is the web site I use to find everything Listed in the Task Manager. If you find something NEW you can send them a copy of it and they will try and find out what it is. They have found 2 new ones for me. :)

EDIT: I just got an update today for MSN Messenger. If you have it you can get a bot called Dr Phile Knowledge that will look them up for you. Go to the BOT Tab and add processbot@hotmail.com There are also MANY other useful bots on MSN. (sorry Yahoo, lol)

Dont remove anything until you know what it is! You can however type each one in your search engine and you will find an explaination of what it does and whether its needed or not.

This site seems to have a good listing of windows processes. If you can't find it there try typing the exact process name into google and search for it.
