after you do the spot cleaning go rent a rug DR. it will run you 25 bucks for the day and about 15 for the soap... works great . I have pets and the some times have an accident so I know for sure it works

Hi,
Vinegar and water mixture can be used only if the carpet is colorfast.Test a hidden area first before trying the solution.
If its ok ,then soak a cotton cloth in vinegar and water solution to remove as much as you can.(dab at the spot in a circular motion) so it doesn't spread and use a toothbrush gently for any tough stain. For the smell use febreeze spray and soak the area and let dry.
Good Luck

I know it sounds really gross but this happens at my house all the time. I have learned the best way to clean up the mess is with a wash rag and cold water. As for the smell you can let the carpet dry and then sprinkle baking soda over it and let it set for a few minuted and them vacuum, open a window and let it air out, or spray febreeze over it.

Power Out, made by Turtle Wax, it is an upholstery cleaner for cars, but it works better than any carpet cleaner out there.
I have 4 kids and 2 dogs and 2 cats, BELIEVE me I have had accidents to clean up and no joke, this is the best!!
Good luck!

trust me. don't rent a rug dr. if you have kids or pets, invest in a carpet cleaner. Mine has paid for itself 1000 times over! (Bissel and Hoover both have some really great ones. When the baby starts growing, there will be TONS more messes to clean up and you will be so glad that you have one.

there is a product sold at pet stores called nature's miracle. it eats away "biological residue" and kills all smell.
vinegar is good also, but i personally can still smell the vinegar afterwards.
