Any advice regarding Highway #2 across Montana and North Dakota?
We are travelling from Vancouver, BC to Winnipeg, MB, and are taking the route east in the states and route west in Canada.
I am considering Route #2 across Montana and North Dakota, how is the road? We will be driving a 3/4 ton pickup pulling a 30 ft fifth wheel, traveling in late Sept. and wondering if we should anticipate any problems, road construction, bad road, etc.
Thanks for any info!!
Also, suggestions for must see places along the way welcomed!

dotteel2's advice is very good. Be aware that in North Dakota, #2 is two lane from Montana to a little west of Minot. I think it is mostly 2 lane in Montana, as well. There is currently road construction around Williston, but that should be finishing up soon. Check the link below.
For the most part, #2 is a good road. In late, Sept I would recommend having a set of tire chains along no matter what route you take. Most likely you will not need them, but my motto is always, "It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."
Things to see along #2 in ND: Fort Union near Williston - will take a while to see it all. Rugby is the center of the North America. - they have a monument - this is a good place to take a picture and stretch the legs a bit. Good fishing at Devils Lake. Grand Forks has a number of interesting things. No matter what route you take, have a safe trip.
