What is the name of this Anime Film?

I watched this anime film some time back that was based in the 40s war time period and in early parts of the film some young girl was being attacked by wolves and you see this one wolf tear out a large piece of her flesh and swallowed it. That is all i remember and thought it was cool.

Can someone tell me the name of this film?

    hi :p I don't know sorry but the closest thing I can suggest is wolf's rain even though it didn't happen in the 40's :p or this Japanese artist( Miyazakis) the one who made Princess Mononake he made most of his movies with animals in it maybe there's a wolf some where :p Peace
