Do you support school uniforms in all schools?
why or why not? and please post your age when replying.
Please keep in mind that the primary purpose of school is education and socialization, and that until a child becomes an adult they really have no effective rights as defined in the US constitution.

uniform policy encourages students to express their individuality in creative ways...also is more cost effective for parents...kids can't use the line that "I don't have anything new and stylish to wear"...reduces the amount of time teachers have to spend trying to get parents to bring to school appropriate clothes for kids who leave the house showing too much or too controversial...kids parents and teacher can focus on the true business of school...education instead of fashion

Hello! I, as a person who had been wearing uniforms for a very long time, believe all schools (all public schools) should wear uniforms. I think school is about learning, insted of how to look. I feel it both distracts, and takes valuable learning time away from kids. When a teacher has to tell a student to "go to the office and change" it takes away time from learning. Also, it makes the school look better. When students from a school are seen dressing inappopropriatly, it makes the school look bad. Also, personally, I love my uniform!!

I am a teacher in the inner city, public schools. Most of our schools require uniforms. I do not like them. We have white shirts and navy bottoms. The 7th and 8th have the option of wearing khaki bottoms and light blue shirts- to make them feel a little different than the "little" kids. Many of the younger kids come to school in filthy uniforms. We have a washing machine in the building that we sometime use to wash their clothes because they smell so bad. We have no way to force the parents to send them in clean clothes. The uniforms do not keep the kids from making fun of less fortunate kids. They make fun of them for torn clothes, dirty, smelly clothes, poorly fitting clothes. The kids who have parents or relatives with some money wear expensive shoes or coats to show they have money. Some teachers think that out of uniform days encourage the kids to misbehave but I haven't noticed any difference.
I would really like to know why one person thinks the teachers should wear uniforms. We don't have problems with acting out, causing jealousy with coworkers because we dress better or any of the other reasons given for endorsing uniforms. It sounds like this person is either a child or a very immature adult. Teachers are adults. We are not on the same "level" as children. That is why so many kids disrespect teachers- parents and others don't think there is any difference between children and adults.

I dont support school uniforms. Why? Because some pepole like me.. Dont have the money to buy in code uniforms. For example Im in the 9th grade. When I was in the 6th and 7th I had to wear them and sometimes I would disobey because I cannot fit dress shoes. And its just a big mess. But I do agree that u should have a littlebit of a dress code. For exmple u can wear any kind of pants or skirts u want. But the skirt must be arm length. I am 14 years old.

I think that it would take alot of pressure off of the children and the parents...it can really be upsetting to some kids if they can't have "the cool expensive" clothes. Why should they have more pressure on them ,it makes it tougher for them to concentrate and learn. It would save the parents money too!! I am 36 now, and when I was in school( I was the youngest of 5 children)...I had to have the cool shoes and clothes that everyone else was wearing and you don't realize what pressure you put on your parents untill you are an adult. Some parents probably feel so guilty if they can't buy their children the best of everything. It would help if all kids could just wear khakis and polo shirts and plain ol' black or white shoes.

I have been to schools with and without uniforms. Personally I think they are a good idea but they have to be done right. For example backpacks should not be part of the uniform and they should be changed every few years.

Yes, but i support gender equal and $ equal ones. Often uniforms end up being as telling. revealing and divisive as other clothes. I think schools should require say t shirts and jeans etc. I don’t support uniforms but i do support dress codes, especially against sexually revealing clothes on minors - not cool. Or worse boys with their pants falling off. When did it become the style to look like a clown pretending to be a bum?

I'm 21 and I'm all for Uniforms. It would help reduce kids picking on each other because of what kind of clothes they wear to school. Kids can be so cruel, and brutally honest. Not having uniforms also promotes individuality though so this is a pretty tough question! But I'm going to have to say that I'm pro-uniforms.

I am 14 and I support uniforms in schools. It keeps the kids in order and reduces the level of teasing or making fun of kids because of what they wear.
It's also good for me because accessorizing and getting ready in the morning is easy. I kno what my uniform is, so I kno what matches and everything.
I do however think schools should have dress down/ free dress days every once in a while.
God Bless...Have a good day

I'm not for school uniforms, in most cases the teachers don't have to wear them. The throw more cost to the parents who could just let their children wear their jeans and kakis. Oh by the way I saw a film years ago on school uniforms, looked really good on those young German kids.
