Will Democrats Stop Using Wikipedia Since The Owner Jimbo Wales Is A Capitalist Who Supports The Iraq War?

A capitalist libertarian who supports the Iraq War, who oppose income tax, who worships the teaching of Ayn Rand?

Update:

If you didn't know, Jimbo Wales has God Power on Wikipedia, anything he says, goes, he makes the rules.

Update 2:

I mean would they pull a "Lieberman"?

Update 3:

btw, some say Ayn Rand is founder of neo-conservatism.

He has the right to his opinion,,,

The Ayn Rand thing is a bit weird, but unless he starts altering all the content to suit his opinions, then I'm fine with using it.

I've seen nothing about him forcing his own opinions on others via his website and his controversies are right there on his own wiki-page.

Got nothing against the guy and he provides a pretty valuable service.

Most libertarian are against the Iraq War.

    Not all capitalist are libertarian.

Democrats will continue using Wikipedia because everyone likes something good that cost nothing.

I'm going to stop using it since Ayn Rand is kind of a *****.

Kidding. About not using Wikipedia, not about Ayn Rand being a *****. She is a huge *****.

what difference does any of that make.. wiki is independently supplied and edited.. so it's actually a very neutral source of information.

Does liking Ayn Rand have some political significance ?

    As a Demoncrat, no.

Most Democrats arn't that stupid or malicious. A source of information is good no matter who owns it. As far as I know, he never uses it to promulgate his party's politics, so I can care less what his personal views are.

Do you think Republicans would boycott it if it were owned by a Democrat? I think most wouldn't.

Why would Democrats stop using it? Heck, it is a source of information that has to be critically judged like any other source of information....besides, I imagine that since it is open source, all sorts of folks put information on it, including Democrats...not that should matter, anyway...what should matter is this: is the information on Wikipedia accurate?

  • 1 decade ago

I think it would take a real Republican to boycott someone on the basis of their political beliefs. Wales is free to think and believe as he chooses, and if I disagree with some of his politics, then that's okay. I wouldn't want someone to refuse to deal with me based on a difference of opinion like that.

It's still a web-based service. Liberals don't have to be petty--we can still use it if it provides us with info.

Anyway, I had no idea the owner held those ideas. I guess I learned that by NOT using his site. Ha!
