Answering q's just for points?
Why do some people say stuff like "I don't know, but thanks for the 2 points", etc.?
As far as I know, the number of questions you can answer in a day is capped depending on your level.
Besides, there's a practically limitless amount of questions, so why choose one that you can't contribute to?

Probably because it's there and the nearest to the cursor. *laughs* I'm just guessing. I've only done that once, and the question was about how many points you have. I think the reason is also that they want to reach the level where they can ask as many questions as they want without losing points, but they aren't knowledgeable about enough things to really get picked as the best answer. So, rather than answer well and hope to get those ten points, they answer in bulk until they can't possibly answer any more.
Although you have a good point about their choosing to answer questions that require a semi-useful answer. If they just want to play lottery, they should answer questions like "Get your free points here?" and there's a slight chance they might get picked randomly. Although, it hardly makes sense for the asker to ask questions like that because they lose more points than the average answerer gains, and they risk being reported and losing all their own points.

My belief:
This is a site to come learn and share my knowledge with others.
Whenever I answer a question I don't say "I've got two more points" instead I say, "I wish my answer helps" and I never expect to get chosen as the best but I hope the user takes consideration of the time I took on answering with my "great" answer.

People don't take the site seriously yet and they think this is just for points, though this is a place to share knowledge and learn from others. I onced found an user who I had seen more than once answering "2 more pts" and I clicked on her profile and all....ALL...her answeres were the same.
Those users should be reported and get a violation :)

Yeh, it ruined the site... beats the point... i wish there was a way to take away the 3 points or something with a bad answer... that wasn't abusable but *sigh*

They do that because they get two points for answering. You can report them as "not a question or answer". I believe the points are taken back if you get reported.
- How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

lol well because for some reason some people are just concerned with bringing their level up. I really don't know why, it's not like you get superior status for having higher level ratings but to each his own.

like your title they answer just for points. i don't know what the satisfaction is in this since you really don't earn anything you can use in life but knowledge. when i post a question i want real answers, not dorky ones ill report every dorky answer there is.

Because they are not very smart, It is better to get 10 points.
"thank you for the points" will never get 10 points.
If I get tired and cannot hold my eyes open I say "I like chocolate milk!"

Why not?..thanks for the 2 points....lol
