Do you believe the myth that republicans are in the pockets of big business?

Not only no, but hell no!

All politicians are beholden to big business to a degree, and big business tends to swing to whichever side it thinks its bread is buttered on. The myth of Republicans and big business dates back to the late 19th century and it's just that ... a MYTH!

BECAUSE Republicans have used the tactic of power control through money for SO long, and now it has reached such a critical level, naturally we will see MORE of the same from the Democratic side of the picture. It's only natural. Both sides have ugliness and honor, but there HAS to be balance, or the anger will grow to a dangerous level in this country.

When your sister's neighbor's cousin's children died or had deformities because some Republican lobbyist group fought hard to keep pollution standards where they were, then we can see where greed is taking its measure.

When the interests of the (rich) few outweigh the interests of the many, it's no longer a country that serves its people, it enslaves its people.

It's just simple math...

Just b/c a company donates to "liberal" causes doesn't mean they aren't directly benefitting from the republican machine's pro-big business policies. Outsourcing has been a boon to big business. Try calling customer service of almost any large companty now & see if "Alex" (as he will undoubtably call himself tho his real name is likely Akbar) doesn't speak w/ an east indian accent. Read the newspaper for verification of jobs going overseas or Central & South America. Also see how union collective bargaining has been on the decline as companies blurr the lines between what their union employees can & cannot do. I work for a large phone company and I see my work going elsewhere everyday & the government doing nothing but helping my company send my work anywhere but here. Now the immigration debate has driven a wedge within the GOP's own party. Bush wants these ILLEGALS to stay in America b/c they work for subpar wages and drive down every1's overall wage, thereby helping big business build that bottom line. However, W's base constituency see's this as a betrayal and so GW's popularity amongst his GOP brethren fails. Now he's pushing again for his social security privatization plan, and every senior citizen who previously voted for him is doing an about face b/c they see their benefits being sent to big business on Wall Street. I hope the country as a whole remembers what this horse's **** has done to America and casts a vote for any1 but a republican in the coming mid-terms. That's the only thing that'll put the brakes on this disaster called the GW Bush era.

According to your list, the Wal-Mart Corporation spent $732,350 on "left-wing" causes and only $2530.00 on "right-wing" causes. Something doesn't add up here.

no...i believe the two main parties are BOTH in the pocket of big business. The same pocket as a matter of fact. 9/11 couldn't have been pulled off if there were TRUE checks and balances.

The truth is the repubs are very much corporate whores. They allowed the energy industry to write US energy policy. They watered down US pollution controls as much as they could get away with. The US industry donates massively to republican political campaign coffers. It donates to liberal charities to look good as liberal charities help people not some political outfit. Who are the people industry goes to for corporate welfare republicans.
