YES, yes and YES! You've got it. We follow the Lord into the GRAVE of baptism. For what purpose? To be conjoined with Him in His death, so if by being together with Him in His Death, we will be raised UP in resurrection, just like He was on His resurrection day. This is why you hear the things about BLOOD cleansing all sin....how do you come in contact with shed blood? By following Jesus into His death, symbolized in water baptism. In so doing, many things happen to us in that grave...spiritual things. Nothing I do. Nothing the person baptizing you does. No work on our part occurs in baptism. God does it all spiritually. It is kinda like having cable turned on from the office. You do nothing, they have to throw the switch. Whatever God does, it is all spiritual and for our benefit. How He does it, I do not know.

You do know you are quoting scripture?

    Romans 6:

3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

you are able to't basically "say" the prayer and it takes position. you need to be honest, and believe that Jesus Christ is the purely begotten Son of God, who became crucified on the opt for our sins, and believe what you're praying. sure. death (taking position into the water), then new existence (arising from the water). Baptism represents burial and resurrection. that's an outward confession of an inward concept. Jesus stated, "John baptized with water, yet I BAPTIZE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT." purely by the blood of Jesus Christ, who died on the go are we kept when we settle for Him as our Lord and Savior. Baptism with water does not avert! that's a public confession of your faith, and an act of obedience to God.

Yes. His (Death) was on the Cross. He conquered (death) 3 days later, so we don't have to.

We died IN Christ in Baptism. So we can LIVE with Him forever.

Jesus, defeated death. We are not (raised) with Christ yet, as He is now. That is what Rapture does.

    Great Question.

Yes - we are buried with Christ in the waters of baptism, but we are also baptized into His resurrection. Pretty nice, isn't it?

We Christians who are baptized are doing so to show our love for God. His son(Christ),came here knowing he was to die to save us was baptized because God demanded it. Even John the Baptist felt unworthy to baptize Christ.I don't get what you mean by his death. He was the only one God deemed worthy to die for us.

That's what i was taught. And then, just as Christ was raised up again from the water (and from the grave), we as Christians are "raised" or "born again", and given a new life in Christ.

Well it depends on what you mean by that... If you mean getting to heaven by means of Baptism... no... Baptism is a declaration to the world that you're dedicating your life to what God wants you to do and be. To get to heaven you need to let Jesus take control of your life.

His death (a gift from God to us) was to save mankind. We undergo a death from our past sinful life and take on the new personality and ultimately gain eternal life from God if He is pleased and most merciful.
