I think it is neither - he is just sadly ignorant.

I do not believe he is *intentionally* trying to be racist, (though it may come off as such) and he just seems to me to not know any better. In addition, the fact that he is a celebrity seems to make him think that his social stature automatically makes him right in his assumptions, which actually in the end makes him ignorant and oblivious.

And even if it was, it does not change the fact that the guy said terrible things. He's racist and I hope he's done with Hollywood.
