Suggestions of how to get my wife into guns.?
My wife hates guns we've argued about them alot. I own two pistols right now and if anything happens to my dad I'm supposed to inherit 8 until my brother and sister get old enough that they want one or two. Any way I like to shoot targets and plinking I try to get her to go with me but she either says yes then comes up with an excuse as to why she can't go or she just says no. But then she askes me all these questions about the targets I bring home to put in my shooting journal. I don't know if she's interested or if she's just trying to seem interested. How do I get her to join me?
My shooting journal for those that don't have one or know what it is. It is a book that I have targets attached to pages that list weather, wind speed/direction, the gun/ammo i'm using, and rounds fired.

Try getting a couple of paint ball guns, one for you and one for her,... Try not to get over zealous and whip her butt all the time,... The idea is for her to have some fun too, so that she enjoys scoring hits on you and just have fun (if you can live with a few bruises, she might learn to fancy those toy guns and warm up a little).
You could also suggest that she use it to chase off annoying critters that are wrecking her garden and your back yard. It won't kill them (which is a consolation to her) but she can do something about pests herself, as well as get in some occasional target practice.
If she gets turned on - on her own, she may want to go with you one of these days and practice popping holes in paper targets at the range.
Just remember not to get too fanatical, if you get overbearing, while she's trying to have fun. She will get discouraged and lose interest. Let her just have fun, if she wants to get really serious, she will ask you for pointers.
Otherwise don't force the issue too much with her, it could be another wedge to drive your marriage apart than be something you can enjoy together.
Source(s): Oh I enjoy plinking too, with my dads Desert Eagle, but he fabricated a shoulder stock just for me coz the thing got such a kick, Funny thing though he uses the stock sometimes when he goes hunting with just his pistols. My dad gave me a Colt Officers .45 for my 16th birthday, its the only gun I have, as I'm not into collecting them like he or my brothers are. But it's served as an excellent deterent on many occasions. As well as the occasional jerk, who've tried to take advantage of my petite stature. Yes I have fired it in self defense, and never in anger. It takes a lot of decipline to resist doing something stupid, when you're angry. - 1 decade ago
talk to her, and teach her gun safety first. when she is comfortably handling them, and can clear them, then offer to take her to the range, followed by a dinner at her favorite restaurant. it would be a help if you have a friend who's wife would also go along on the range trip.
it might also help to start with something like a BB gun, or airsoft, they are less intimidating, but are still gun to your wife.
also if you do not have a .22 lr, you should get one for her to fire. DO NOT go and buy a gun for her. ask her to come with you to the gun store and let her pick it out for herself. i got a revolver and brought it home for her, handed it to her and asked what she thought. she shrugged her shoulders and handed it back (it is now what i shoot when we go the the range). i almost bought a second .22 for my wife, but at the last minute i decided to take her out to see what she thought of it, she did not like it at all. she picked something i would have never thought of.
lastly give it time, it was about 4 years from getting my wife to fire a pistol crossbow, to her owning a handgun. it still takes a little negotiating to get her to the range.

If you want her to love them, show her all the articles of 5 year old kids blowing their friends' heads off, cuz the dad left the gun out with the safety broken. That outta heartwarm her
Actually, just tell her you'll use them for recreation. And get a goddamn safe, it never hurts to have kids away from it, and put the ammo somewhere else

show her how it works by blowing her brains out
