I can't speak for every tribe, i'm ojibwa, but i'm sure that there isn't too many differences with etiquette.

Respect the elders, give up your seat should one need it.

don't dress disrespectfully to yourself or others ie. belly tops/short skirts/cleavage

Don't take pictures of the cerimonies, usually the MC of the event will let you know when it's ok to take pictures

Stand during honor songs and prayers, just like you would at any other cultural gathering, MC will usually let you know about this too.

Pow-wow's are pretty open to others of other cultures, the MC anouncing the songs and dances keeps the public informed of what's going on.

Other than that, there's not too much considering your an observer and not a practioner. Have fun, be open, join the intertribal dances, experience. :)

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

In other words, see how everyone else is behaving and follow along.

I've been to a couple of powwows, and they strike me as very laid back. You can just talk to people and get to know them.

If you have a question about what to do, I'm sure you can ask someone.

I think the previous answerer gave you some great advice.

Just go and have a good time. I attended a couple, and they had arts and crafts booths and tribal dances, and it really wasn't anything to feel awkward about. You could browse through the booths just like you would at a fair and it was really neat to watch the dances too.

I even have by no ability heard of the call Cree, yet I even have usually used quite a few Dakota's and the two boys and females. And none have community American, that i understand of. yet, you could no longer continuously tell by ability of their visual allure.

Native people are all about respect. You show respect to their beliefs, culture and people in general and you will be well received. If you wish to bash them or their culture, by all means, do not be so disgusting and do it at one of their gatherings.

DON'T bring your cellphone and above all DO NOT USE IT if you do...or the government/alien conspiracy can track you, like they did to Scully that time at Albert Hosteen's healing ceremony in New Mexico!
