Is it normal to be cranky if you don't get enough sleep?

If you need to sleep, you don't want to do other things, this can make you cranky for sure. If I have to work after being awake over 24 hours, I not necessarily get cranky, but I can become very annoying. Like when I'm drunk. I get a slight dizzy humm in my head, barriers seem to fall away, and many times I even start feeling more awake then when I normally wake up after a good night sleep. But this is just a feeling, because in fact I only see half the situation, respond late to new situations and only listen to myself. This leads to mis-communication and mistakes and in the end this makes me and other people cranky.

Cranky people will be cranky, lack of sleep leaves them an excuse.
But it is true that most kids have a far worse time adjusting to lack of sleep then older people, I think its all just a self control thing for the rest of us.

NOOOOOOOOO! You are human, you should be perfect no matter what is going on in your life. How rude of you to be cranky because you chose to not get enough sleep. You should be ashamed. You better apologize to the people you were cranky with. I sure wouldn't take that shi.t from you. I'd slap your a.ss until you started laughing.

definitely.
You need 6-8 hours per night. If you sleep only a few hours then you don't get the REM deep sleep needed to allow your body to repair itself and start anew for the next day. So remove the tv, radio and computer from your bedroom so as not to be distracted, and get your rest.

Sleep is a very important aspect of our health and not getting proper sleep can have serious health problems attached to it.
Crankiness is just the beginning. Get some good regular sleep
