What should a single woman traveller do in Honolulu?

Wandering is a great way to find out and try new things. You never know what you can find when you just wander.

Check out the surf stand on the beach and take a lesson. Make sure to go to Duke's Canoe Club for a happy-hour type atmosphere and AWESOME Hula Pie... Moose McGillicuddy's (sp??) is a fun dance spot, and there is LOTS of shopping. Chances are you'll meet people hanging out on the beach. Try to be social as you never know what kinds of fun activities others have going on. You may even get adopted by a cool group. Keep your eyes open (but don't be too trusting and don't leave your $$ on the beach) and you can meet some great people. Don't give people your room # if you can help it. You just never know.

I HIGHLY recommend checking out the North Shore. It is VERY laid back and slow... more like a real vacation than party-town Waikiki. There is a group of homeless people who live on the beach under a canopy of willow trees (very cool) and there is a flock of rogue domestic parrots that often perch there... you can often hear them saying things their former owners taught them... good for stories.

Just in case this isn't obvious, don't buy weed there. I know it's the thing to do in Hawaii, but mainlanders will undoubtedly get ripped off. Good luck, and have fun!!!

Waikiki is also where all the hotels and tourists are. You can also take those circle the island buses for just $2 one way with a free transfer valid for few hours. Ala Moana Shopping Center is a major shopping mall in Honolulu. It is big and has many shops and stores. The Polynesian Cultural Center is also very popular for tourists. Also, Haunama Bay is pretty popular too and a good place for snorkeling and you can find many beautiful fish when you go snorkeling there. Another great place to visit is Sandy Beach. It has beautiful beaches, nature and landscape. There is also Sea Life Park where you can watch the dolphins and the other animals perform, Hawaii Water Adventures Park (Many water activities), North Shore, Hawaii Kai (A nice area to visit), Pearlridge Shopping Mall (Another big shopping mall in Pearlridge), Kailua (Nice town to visit), Arizona Memorial, Paradise Cove, etc...All of these places mentioned above can be reached by local buses. You can always ask the bus driver if you are lost or need to get to a place or you can also call the bus at 808-8485555 for what buses to take. The bus website is at http://www.thebus.org/

If you want to do the touristy stuff, go to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It is right on the beach. Good restaurants like Benihana can be found there, dinner shows with the fire & hula dancers (which you can take photos with for a small fee) and you are walking distance from just about everything.

You can also rent a car, but make sure you have a GOOD map. As with any city, there are places you probably would not want to go to at night, but the day is fantastic for sightseeing.

You can also sign up for a tour. Check with your hotel front desk. That way you will not be totally alone. Much safer.

Go to the windward side of the of the island. It's beautiful and not as crowded. A lot of the hotels in Waikiki have luau's and some are right on the beach. There is a Hard Rock Cafe there. The international market place is neat and there is a big flea market in Aiea. You have to see the Pearl Harbor memorial. It's really neat. The Ala Moana mall is really nice too and isn't too far from Waikiki.

Ala Moana beach is a locals beach....not busy at all but very nice and quite safe for a single woman. My sister and I used to hang around in WaiKiki for dancing and never had a problem. If you see a soldier give em a hug, omg, do I have a story to tell. My sister wasn't into the military, we went to this place as she wanted me to see it after some renovations. As we walk in the bar is full of sailors, she goes "Navy grunts".....then this guy grabbed us an said hello and she looks at me and says "Australian Naval grunts!", that made her happy...they were all so sweet too......had a blast....you should try to get to the other side of the island to see Waimea Falls, its a beautiful park with villages set up so you can see how hawaiians used to live, there is cliff diving, true traditional hula demonstrations....its beautiful and real touristy.

depends on your budget,if you on the cheap end and semi fit,try the Diamond head hike,or take the BUS for 2 dollar's all the way around Oahu.

if you go to a Luau Wait until your on another island,IE maui,Hawaii,,,if your only going to be in waikiki go to Paradise cove,there basiclly all the same...they just have the Best property/Location.

The Hale Koa is a nice hotel with a lovely restaurant. Getting to the North shore is less touristy and very pretty. Rent a car and drive over the pass, take a camera and head toward Rabbit Island. Directions fm local's will include "Ewa" (pronounced EVA) for West, and "Diamond Head" (for East.) Aloha means hello, goodbye and I love you. Mahalo is thank you. No ka oi means none better. Go to the beach. Assuming your pretty young, and have a tite, tone body, you should treat yourself to a designer swim-suit, that is classy but revealing. At the beach, Try to flirt w/ dude's who got hard bods, and big bulges in their groin-areas. You can also get a travel book at a book store. Take dozens of condoms, cause you're gonna need'em. If you're white, go somewhere else. They don't like "haoles" in Hawaii.....only your money. Where else can you go where they have "kill haole" days at school, the favorite local pastime is going to tourist areas and "f***ing with some haoles" and you can see bumper stickers on cars that say "haole, the other white meat" and "brown skin hui", which would be akin to saying "white skin klan". Oh, and by the way, it's not "haole".......it's "F***in' haole"
