Travel question: Florida to British Columbia, Vancouver?
I'm trying to plan a trip from Florida to Vancouver during November 2006. I've heard it's cheaper to fly from FL to Montana and then rent a car to go to Canada. Has anyone else ever done this to travel to Canada from the States? We are planning on going to Whistler Blackcomb to try a ski vacation this year. Please let me know anything you can about traveling from the States to B.C. if you have any experience with that. Thank you very much!
Sybelline, I think you answered the wrong question. Thanks for trying, tho. It was a good attempt. But I don't even HAVE an avatar, and what would you possibly have against Canadians that you think my idea for travel isn't good? You need to watch it, Canada is a big country and they will find you.

A suggestion from experience would be to shop for best air fares from one of the major airports in Florida to fly directly into Seattle and from there take the Amtrak train non-stop into Vancouver, BC. This will be about a 3-1/2 to 4 hour non-stop trip which should cost between $30-35 per person and will make the border crossing much more convenient. Once in Vancouver you can rent a car if you like but the shuttle services are very good there. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions or should need any assistance in obtaining best rates and schedules then feel free to ask for my help. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I would try flying into Seattle and then you have the choice of Amtrak, Greyhound bus or rental car to get you to Vancouver. To get to Whistler is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Vancouver or there's lot of buses and the Whistler Mountaineer train to choose from. And don't forget your passports to get back into the USA as another person suggested.

see about a flight to seattle its a 2 hour drive to vancouver you still need passports as the border is just as secure as the airport ....... montana is a hell of a drive in winter as is oregon and idaho you may get hung up ( closed passes ) seattle is your best bet if not flying directly to canada

It may or not be. Check expedia or some other travel sites. Flight prices have just dropped due to the whole liquid thing and more people being nervous about flying.
