To Christian Brothers and Sisters IN Christ?

There is alot of controversy bout the sabbath. Do you think it's important to set aside a day for the Lord or do you think He is strict about which exact day you do it on?

you struck a passion cord on this question. Everyone answering is passionate about their belief and what they believe is correct. All make a valid point and should be considered.

To say HE is strict on which day is foolish. Very few Christians make the whole sabbath day holy unto the LORD. Its your heart and the purity of your motives that is judged by God. Be it one hour or be it one day.........remember the sabbath

Only God knows for sure, how can we possibly answer this for him. In the bible there are many Sabbaths and the day of rest Sabbath is Sunset Friday to Sunset Saturday. Christians worship on Sunday because the Catholic church changed it. Is this not acceptable to God, I don't know, do I think we will go to hell for it, is it a sin? "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy". If God considers Sunday as the first day of the week, then a lot of us could be in big trouble. I always thought that as long as you set aside a day for the lord then that was what was important, we shall see. God Bless!!

Jesus pointed out that the sabbath was made for people, not people for the sabbath. The important thing about sabbath is the idea of rest, of taking time to be grateful for all we have, to recognize that we are dependent on God and not ourselves and the work of our hands alone. It doesn't matter which day, or even if it's a day, a week, or a month. But it's important to make the time.

I do not believe the sabbath is set for any particular day. The intent of that law was to remind to stop and remember the Lord. The only stipulation is that you shall labor 6 says and rest on the 7th day. Could be M-S and Sunday sabbath. Could be Tuesday - Sunday with Monday sabbath. That was the way I did it when I was on staff at my church. In fact, most of the staff members did it that way.

you should set aside time every day for the Lord,

but the sabbath should be a time to keep your mind focused on the Lord, that is suppose to be the day of rest, i know that it is hard to do when Sundays are the only time we have to get things done, but any day you can devote to God he will honor, he is an understanding God. Just give Him The Time He Deserves He Sure Gives US His Time And Most Of The Time We Are Undeserving Of It

  • I believe that we are to set a day aside to honor the Lord. We should do it everyday. It does say in the bible that we are to keep the Sabbath day holy. That is the 8th commandment in the 10 commandment . Reference: Exodus 20:8

Source(s): The Holy Bible , Exodus chapter 20 verse 8. My own life experiences as a Chrisitian woman. Respectfully submitted, your sister in Christ, Mrs. Crystal Wilford

that is a good question. funny, but i have been thinking about that very thing for the last 2or3 days. the bible says to remember the sabbath to keep it holy. some people, notably the seventh day adventists, insist that the sabbath is on saturday. since we really don't know when the real sabbath is,(or at least i don't). i think the best thing to do is keep every day holy just to make sure. but of course we can,t do that. maybe that leaves us with only one other option and that is to stick with tradition and observe whatever day we are now observing. Jesus said that man was not made for the sabbath, but that the sabbath was made for man. i think God intended for us to work six days and to rest on the seventh so we could renew and refresh ourselves. as long as we honor God and keep his word in our hearts we shouldn't be too concerned which day we observe as long as we observe one. thank you for the question. God bless

I think one day a week should be set aside for the Sabbath, however it does not matter what day. More important, every day should have time spent with God.

I am comfortable with celebrating the Lord's Day on Sunday, the day He rose from the grave. I do think it is important to have a day set aside, or holy, for God. On the other hand, I believe this can be taken to far. Jesus spoke of this quite clearly when he said, paraphrased: if one of you had an ox fall into a hole, would you leave it there or work to get it out?

While it is wise to rest at least one day a week, there is no longer a legal requirement to do so and there certainly isn't a specific day. A Christian should have their heart devoted to God 24/7 but we don't have to keep the Old Testament Sabbath law.

Mark 2:27 And he said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath."

Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath law that was pointing to God's rest in Christ.

Colossians 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. 16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

Hebrews 4:3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, 'They shall not enter my rest,'" although his works were finished from the foundation of the world.

...So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Hebrews 4:9-10
