If we don't fight the terrorists in Iraq, we will have to fight them here at home, right?

Great question. I notice that you avoided as many bg words as possible so that the people who buy into that line will understand the question. Way to go!

You know, 'the terrorists' bombed the WTC 37 days after Clinton took office. That was one of terrorists attacks on American soil while Clinton was in office, and fighting in Iraq wouldn't have done a thing to prevent the other attack, the Oklahoma City bombing. For more than eight years after the first foreign terrorist attck on American soil, we neither were in the middle of a shooting war, nor were we being attacked here at home. It seems to me that we don't have to fight them here at home if we fight them in the right way.

Of course, it's pretty hard to fight them the right way when a little less than eight years after the first WTC bombing, the counter-terror measures and apparatus got dismantled in favor of other counter-terror measures (such as a push in the area of planned parenthood bombers, specifically trying to identify people that might do something to people accused of bombing planned parenthood clinics, though no investigations into the actual bombings).

If we can get better security and stop letting just anyone over here or on a plane with bags of goodies then that would help. Terrorist are everywhere and it is known attacks usually occur every 5-7 years.

It will happen, and has always happened. We need to be better equipped in our security,as in the new fingerprinting of anyone coming from a foreign nation, and tighter laws. Here or there,we will always have some freaks wanting to kill us.

No. Why? Because they don't HAVE to fight us. Our government is doing a wonderful job of destroying the fundamental beliefs of this nation. The rights we were once guarenteed are under attack. Not by terrorism, but by the government. Any time people stop and say "What? Wait a minute!" out tromps the "Terrorists MIGHT attack" card. "What would you give up to be safe?"

NO government can ever make you completely safe. The closest thing to it is not a democracy or a republic. It's a tyranny, dictatorship or fascism. Of course, that's not neccessarily of the goals list either.

Why should the terrorists go to a great effort and expend money and lives on destroying America? We're doing a fine job of it ourselves in the name of fear.

No, not correct. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or just doesn't have the mental capacity to understand they are two different issues. There are some connections, but that argument is typically used in lieu of a genuine justification for fighting the 'terrorists' in Iraq.

If we don't fight and stop them their in Iraq and Afghanistan then yes we will have too be fighting them in our back yard.....then we will truly know what Israel has had to go through....

Now that is funny a peace treaty with a terrorist....

They would honor that treaty as much as Hitler honored the Munich Peace treaty with the Czechs...

You can not appease a terrorist ...you just have too kill them dead!

Those of you who say we should just leave them alone and they will leave us alone are a bunch of fools and do not really know sh*t about what is going on ...

I have served a tour over there and and also have two other brothers and one cousin fighting over there....unless you have been there and know what is truly going on PLEASE SHUT THE F*CK UP!

Do you propose we go into every other country and fight possible terrorists there?? drain necessary funding while the terrorists are already plotting and fighting us here too.Wake up we're fighting on two fronts and soon we'll realize that we're stretching ourselves thin and sacrificing much needed resources for our people!!!!!

the idea of fighting to make all this mess end is just overdone on my own opinion. many lives have been lost and our safety is no longer on our hands. i think our leaders shld find a way to end this in a peaceful and fair manner, though war is predistined, we still have the will to make our world a haven of peace not a battleground. it's true yet what they say, an eye for an eye, but we can make a difference if we can learn to forgive, its hard though and of course a lil impsble but if it'll be our last resort, there is no harm in trying.

I'm not so worried about fighting terrorists at home -- I'm more worried about having to live in a society where crime is rampant because people feel excluded from the American dream, and where the solution the NRA-bought-off government offers me is the ability to carry a concealed weapon and defend myself in a shoot-out.

We're a lot more likely to be victims of violent crime in America than victims of terrorism!

is it like a terrorist army? where they all going to get on planes and fly here, and then thought "oh wait, there are americans here to fight, I'll just walk down the street and fight one of them."

Well, yes, but not just in Iraq. The problem is if we just up and leave now it will be a hotbed for terrorism. But there are sections in other middle eastern countries which are currently hotbeds as well.
