If not, then where did they come from??? Who or what created the original neutron????

Have you heard of Dalton? He said that matter can neither be created nor destroyed!
And neutrons, protons, electrons etc. are all just basic types of matter!

A neutron is not a fundamental particle, but is composed of 1 up quark with a +2/3 charge and 2 down quarks with -1/3 charge each, giving a neutral total charge. From Helmut's examples, it appears sufficient energy can transition a single down quark to an up quark, creating a total charge of +1, which we call a proton. An electron with -1 charge is emitted in the process to conserve charge.
Alternately, a proton can convert to a neutron in reverse fashion by emitting a positron with a +1 charge.

Neutrons are created by various atomic reactions; a popular one is to bombard beryllium with alpha particles. In the atomic bomb that destroyed Nagasaki, the nuclear reaction was initiated by this means, using polonium as a source of alpha particles. Neutrons are, of course, produced by U-235 when it fissions. Neutrons are occasionally found in nature, where they are made by cosmic rays, but free neutrons are unstable and decay after a while into a proton and an electron.

Yes, to both.
Neutrons have been "created"in high-energy accelerators by the collision of 2 protons. One of the protons kicks off a positron and becomes a neutron.
U238 absorbs a slow neutron, becoming U239. One of the neutrons in the atom then kicks our an electron (beta particle) and the atom becomes Th239. A short time later another neutron kicks out an electron, and you have PL239. The plutonium, once refined out, is used in nuclear reactors, atomic bombs, and hydrogen bombs

TO RDX....destroting a neutron would not be destroying matter, it would be breaking it into more fundemental parts of matter. also from my very basic understanding of string theory matter and energy are "made" of the same thing so you should be able to turn enrgy into matter.

"A matter can neither be created nor destroyed" thats the universal truth. i don't know more than that. That's what they used to teach in school. hehe..
