How do you get rid of kitchen smell?

When my roommates cook, the smell of the food seems to linger in our kitchen for DAYS! It kind of irritates me because the smells are so pungant and strong. I've tried febreze, lysol (sp?), burning candels, and leaving all the windows open. Nothing seems to get rid of the smells. Can you maybe help me? Thanks.

This is unpleasant at first, but boil some vinegar and water (half and half)-- in the microwave or on the stove. after the vinegar smell disappears your cooking odor should be gone as well.

I have this same problem. It’s not easy to get rid of the smell, in fact the room mates cooking will be a chore for you constantly.

First designate a certain day for this person to cook the “smelly” food, unless the room mate plans to do the cleaning after the food is done.

The food naturally produces steam that will stick to the walls and ceiling, so you have to use bleach or ammonia mixed with hot water and dish soap, and you will need to clean the stove, counter tops, walls, and ceiling when practical. Be sure to clean all areas the steam touches. You will also need to clean up the food area and wash the dishes.

When done sprinkle some carpet fresh on the rugs in the house and vacuum, this allows the vacuum to push a nicer smell in the home.

When done lightly spray your favorite order eating air freshener around the house.

It seems extreme that’s why I only allow the room mate in my house to cook on Wednesday’s because that is the day I do all my cleaning any way. I tell him to make a lot and save some for the rest of the week

Just take some baking soda, mix with water to make a paste, and apply to the area. Let it set for about 30 minutes or so, and wipe. You may have to apply several times, but it WILL get the smell out. Good luck.

Fill a pot with water and add a little vinagar to the water and let it boil for a few minutes. The vinager smell will not last long and the odors wil be gone.

Does he clean the kitchen after cooking? Maybe its the dirty dishes. You might check to see if the grease filter of the range hood is dirty, sometimes it can hold an excessive smell.

Try washing with cider vinegar that often clears cooking odors. Some chefs leave a bowl out on the counter.

Next try odor-ban it kills many odors and disinfects too. it works well on urine odors.

Try breaking down the stove and cleaning the WHOLE thing.. inside and out. clean the burners and the oven. Most ovens have a self-cleaning function. use that first, then go in and wipe it down with kitchen cleaner.

ask roommates to use fan over the stove or leave a window open for air, it not try "oust" it works very well to remove odors

The odors are probbly coming from the microwave or the stove, whichever appliance is used. Clean those thoroughly and it should help.

talk to him and ask him not to cook it b/c it leaves a bad smell behind
