Do you remember what you were doing on 9/11?

Update 2:

I worked at the FAA(Federal Aviation Administration). I had heard on the radio that a plane had hit the 1st tower and I thought that it must have been some awlful accident. But when I got into work, the TV's were on and I watched as the second plane hit the tower. My mouth dropped and I just said, "That was on purpose!" The building was shut down 15 minutes later. I have flown the US Flag ever since! God Bless America!

I was in the US Army and stationed at Fort Hood at the time. I had just finished doing PT (physical training, finishing a 4 mile run). My unit was the Division Ready Brigade, which meant we were already on high alert. I walked up stairs to my room and my friend had the TV on so I walked in. Right as I sat down the second plane hit. I asked if it was a replay, he said no. About 30 minutes later, I received the call to be at my unit with all my bags, ID card and dog tags. We prepared a plane with all our gear, but received stand down orders 3 days later.

I was a captain at the time in the U.s Army. I was treating a patient on Fort Carson Colorado for a virus called N.V.D. Some of the regular patients were making a commotion in the waiting room, and I was called in to see what was going on. On the T.V in the wating room, i saw that one plane had crashed into the twin towers. Honestly, I thought it so improbable that I actually thought it was a skit in a movie, so I asked..."What movie is this". And was told that it was real. Then as I was watxhing the broadcast, another plane flew in behind the newscaster and struck the other building. My heart immediately sunk into my stomack. I knew it was deliberate then, and I knew I'd be going to war.

At the time I didn't have a job so I was home. I woke up and turned on the tv and saw the first tower that was hit covered with smoke. I watched in disbelief as the newscaster said it was a terrorist plot. As I was watching I saw the second plane hit the other tower - I was flabbergasted.

A close friend had died and his wife came to stay with us so we could help her straighten out her affiars. She was extremely distraught and that morning we were having a very hard time dealing with her and her grief. The TV was on and suddenly we were distracted as we both watched our country being attacked. A very stressful time suddenly became even more stressful.

I was moving. I thought that the world was going into war. Now I realize otherwise. The world has been at war for a long time. It is just that nobody knew.

Peace to all of the people who died.

I was in Undergrad then and was on my way to class. I bumped into a friend who was on his way to the honors lounge where the news was on...so i went with him and watched the news and skipped multiple classes. One of the girls I knew just kinda sagged and had to hold my onto me so she wouldn't fall down when i got there.

  • I was at my local courthouse to protest another speeding ticket. They cleared the building fairly quickly. And uh I went home. It was annoying because my cell phone wouldnt work. I was 21. I saw it on the news, it was sad, but its life stuff happens.Mourning it five years later wont change anything.
