When is the best time to buy airline tickets home for the holidays?
I am going from San Diego to Denver - is there a time where the tickets are cheaper - which site has the best deals - and is there a time when they tend to be less? Okay, that is a lot of questions. Thanks in advance for the help!

Flying around Christmas is a little different than the rest of the year. If you wait too long, you will *not* get a seat (except on Christmas day, when loads are light). Buying well in advance is good advice.
Check all the big travel sites, as well as the airlines' own sites.
Also, you might check out [ http://www.farecast.com/ ]. They claim to be able to predict when fares will go up and down.

Airlines and their associated websites have on-going specials. What's I would suggest is that you set up a "favorite" location (I know that orbitz, travelocity, and netscape all have a spot where you can put in your chosen destination and they'll email you with updates specific to that airport).
If your travel plans are more flexible, try priceline.com. You may have more connections or longer layovers but you can "name your price" and they'll try to get it for you.

Buy them ASAP now that fuel prices are low again and airlines are looking to fill seats and make money.
