even with all the administrator rights in the world, there is no option within windows (or any other operating system i know of) that will display a users password because there is no need for an admin account to know it, they have the run of the system and as such don't need to be logged in as that user to do stuff.
a separate software for retrieving passwords is l0phtcrack, but unless you 100% solely own the machine it will be ran on i wouldn't recommend using it:

i'm afraid this shouldn't artwork. That battery in basic terms shops cmos counsel for the hardware and not OS passwords. those are saved in an encrypted record it is saved on the no longer trouble-free tension. There are countless counsel on a thank you to get previous this. the perfect approach is to apply BART PE boot the equipment off the BART boot disk and using MMC with the community customers and settings team get rid of the admin passwords and reset them. any incorrect way is composed of beginning a reinstall and interrupting it at a undeniable element in which you would be able to bypass in as admin without password. you will desire to comprehend while to end the deploy for this to artwork. As for the battery-good try yet whoever informed you that doesn't comprehend how the hardware or abode windows works! desire this factors you interior the surprising direction!

Both of those answers are wrong. The "user" pass words ARE stored on the HD or the OS would have no way of verifying you when you attempt to log on to Windows. Since you are not the administrator (and I am one) I won't tell you where or how they are stored, but, any "on-line" pass words that you use for email, for example, are secure.

Wrong. The passwords are stored, but they are ENCRYPTED. Mr. Dusty has it just ***-backwards. You can get programs to decrypt all of your "online" passwords that are stored, but they aren't decrypting your windows password.

You can't. It isn't stored anywhere as text.
There are programs that try to guess and then let you know if they succeed what worked, but they are extremely dangerous to use.
