Need help adding a new HP laptop to an existing XP home network.?

I have asked this question once and the 4 answer I recieved were of no help. Hoping a second asking will net better reults. I have print and file sharing turned on as I am able to share printers and files between the 2 desktops that make up the original network in this problem:

I have a new HP laptop running XP. I have two desktops running XP that are currently networked via a LinksysG (model WRT54GS v4). The network is encrypted with WEP. I have been able to add the laptop to the network and access the internet but I am having trouble accessing the shared printers and files on the desktops from the laptop. I can see the laptop from the other computers when I view the workgroup, but I can't see the other computers when I view the workgroup from the laptop. When I have tried to add a shared printer I get a message that I may not have permission....contact the administrator). I have stepped through the help files several times with no success. PLEASE HELP!

This most likely has to do with the user id and password being sent across the network, try creating a XP admin user account with the same user id and password as the computer you are trying to reach over the network and see if you can then reach that computer properly. conversely you could try creating a account that uses the same id and password on one of the old computers. When you run workgroups these types of issues are common.

Edit: try this open control panel, then user accounts , select the account you are currenly using then choose the manage my network passwords link in related tasks box. This will allow you to change the user id and password that you use on the other computer when you access it.

Try re-booting in safe mode with network support. Then try adding the printers.

Have you turned off the firewalls on the other desktops? Or do you have a firewall software installed on the computers?

If u are still having problems, try this site:

My guess is you have a PW or code on the share printer.
