Write about something that is realistic fiction. Maybe it could be about a girl who travels the world? Use your imagination and think of something super creative. Books about exotic lands or thrillers are always a good choice!

Well, since you don't really reveal what grade you are in, or what class this may be for if you are out of "graded" classes, it's a bit difficult. You also say nothing about the context of the story as it relates to the assignment. Just to say "write a story" is incredibly vague.

However, as an idea:

Your main character has logged onto a public Q&A website to search for some form of inspiration for a story that needs to be written for a class of some sort. During said character's travels aroun this site, in the search for something about which to write, they keep seeing strange postings from a mysterious avatar. These postings, while normally would attract no suspicion, seem to be a bit off in content and context, and, at the same time, begin to answer questions with an eerie amount of information that should not be available. Slowly, the main character begins to grow more interested, and starts to track the progress of the mystery poster, only to have this strange avatar begin to follow the character around the site as well. Your story can culminate when the mystery avatar begins to speak directly to the main character through answers to other people's posted questions, and not through any im device or chat program.

I'll leave you to come up with a suitable ending to the tale.

Write an event that happened to you. Maybe Easter with your folks. Now take that event and add a twist, the Uncle that seems to make it actually shows up. Now have the bottom element of the stove fail, so the turkey is only half cooked. Haw does everyone cope? Story still not working for you?, how about the event as seen through the eyes of the family dog.

The point is, write what you know, accent the mood you want the story to portray. Horror and Humor abound all around us.

I always like it when you take on interesting / creative idea and apply it to reality. Then see what happens. Things like ...

1. A 12 year old boy thinks his neighbor is a serial killer but can't convince his parents of it.

2. Two strangers get trapped on an elevator. Make them a man and a woman and you can add possible sexual tension.

3. A person can't stop obsessing over their ex. Experiment with the person being a man or a woman and see the differences.

4. A man discovers his wife is cheating on him and commits suicide. What does she do?

5. A baby gets too rough with a Chihuahua and gets bit hard. Make the bite interesting like losing a finger or a permanent scar. Make the baby's mother / father not the Chihuahua owner and see what results.

My advice is this....write what you know about regardless of whether you think that it is interesting or not. You will probably find that your experiences will interest others and although you might struggle with the writing overall, it will be easier for you. I teach and when a student asks me what to write about.....I will often say to write about experiences......Good luck!

Write about something that either scares you to death or is the biggest dream of your live and let it happen to the main character in your story.

If I were you, I'd give 10 points to The Doctor and use his idea.

Write about something you know. It's much easier that way.
