How to get melted crayon off of leather seats...?

Wow, this is a toughie. The crayon has surely melted INTO the leather, making it very difficult to remove. I am unaware of anything that would remove wax but would not hurt leather. If I think of anything I'll let you know. You should check with a leather cleaning specialist.

This very much depends on what type of finish is on the leather.

If it is a pigment leather the wax should just scrape off and then you should clean residues with warm water and detergent leather cleaner.

If it is on an aniline style leather you should go through the same proceedure but you may find that wax residues have soaked into the surface. This stain may be permanent.

You can try brown paper and an iron (not too hot) the object being to melt the wax and soak it up into the brown paper. On the other hand this may spread it further into the leather so take care and judge the results at each step. Gentle cleaning over several months may then slowly dissipate the wax and make it blend in.

Degreasers can be used but these leave complicated recolouring problems.

Crayon is indeed a wax. It melts with heat.

Firstly..... scrape off the bulk of it when it is cold and out of the sun. Vacuum up the scrapings.

Secondly .... A previous answer says to iron a cloth over it so the melted wax is absorbed by the cloth. Fine answer but I'd use brown paper. Don't use paper with printing on it or you may have a second problem. Beware .... only have the iron on warm.... not hot.... it only needs to melt the wax so it is absorbed into the paper.

Thirdly ..... This will only remove the bulk of it. Body heat will transfer whatever is left onto anybody that sits there so get to somebody that does tanning to reccomend whatever solvent will remove the rest without removing the colour itself. Euclayptus Oil is indeed a solvent and will dissolve wax but will it also remove the original colour?? You could try this but do a trial on an unseen area beforehand.

Put down a towel over the crayon and then pass an iron over it. The melted crayon is drawn into the towel fabric

You could talk to a used car dealer, they have peolple come out that specialize in complete dye process and repair for vinyl, plastic and leather.. Even if you get the crayon off you probally have to dye the set where the crayon was...

If you can, use a hair dryer to heat the crayon up and wipe it up as it melts. Crayon is just wax it should come right off with a little heat.

Erase crayon, pencil, ink, and furniture scuffs from painted surfaces. Sprinkle bakingsoda on a damp sponge, rub clean, and rinse.

crayons are wax try freezing with ice cubes and scraping then paraffin or eyculiptus oil check for colourfastness first

your best bet is going to a detail shop and seeking a professional opinion. i recently ended up with a white scuff mark on my black leather... i went and purchased black shoe polish and covered it up... something to think about... good luck!
