How do you plan a burial and Memorial Service?
I do not belong to a religion but see the need for those I leave behind a service or ritual that will help them through the mourning process. Is there a web site with such info?
I will be cremated, how do you get info on that?... but then what.....how do you find places for memorial services. Is there a timeline...etc How do you create a memorial service and how do you invite folks?

When you choose to be cremated, you need to leave a specific will stating your wishes, it will need to be witnessed and notarized and in some states filed at your county courthouse. Otherwise, the rest is easy, I'll give you my own plans so you will know - I bought my urn off the internet, so it's taken care of, I have left it for my son to choose to do as he pleases, as I will not care, I won't be here. I have asked that a family and friends memorial be held at our home in our flower garden that my husband has put in just for me to enjoy my time with the Lord. I've left my favorite hymns should my son want to have music played, otherwise I've asked that he read a statement of what I believe my life was about and if he cannot to ask someone to read it on his behalf. This is all sealed in an envelope that he knows is in a metal file box of "important papers". He is free to choose whichever funeral home he desires to have my body cremated at, as I don't want a service in their facility, just in our garden. Also, because our family has a family line of plots in a cemetery, he is free to choose if he wants to bury the urn there, in the floral garden of our home, or keep it until he is ready to make closure, or to bury it wheverever he may be living at the time. Because it is a family plot line I have taken care of having a headstone put up, whether the remains ever arrive there or not. I have left an obituary that will allow him to make any necessary changes and submit to the local paper. Most anyone who will want to participate will know of my demise anyway. So, it is all written down, with the money available to cremate, plus a life insurance policy, the urn is purchased, the headstone is up, and the will is written, along with an eulogy I would like to have read. I've had to prepare as I have a brain tumor, but it's really never too early for anyone to prepare as we never know when a car wreck, accident at work, or strange unexpected anything will be our last moment and there's not time to make the arrangements.

as our family owns five funeral homes. you can contact any of them near you and even get the pre-paid plan so when your time comes, the cost is paid for compared to the higher cost over time. if your going to be crenated, you can have a viewing before you are cremated or get cremated and then have the viewing and funeral. the service is done by the funeral home and listed as to how things will be done in the obituary's.

If you visit any funeral home they should have a packet of info and some even offer a video for planning purposes. Folks are invited when they see the obituary in the newspaper

Go to your local funeral home (call first) and you can set things up, like paying for the funeral, buying a urn and stuff. You should also go to your local cemetery and get a plot of land if you plan on having a memorial placed in the cemetery. Anyway, talking to the people at your local funeral home can help you set things up.

You can meet with a funeral director and plan your funeral/memorial service. Then you can prepay and save your family of that burden when you die.
