Which Part Do The Angry Muslims Not Understand?

Clearly aware of the sensitivity of the issue, Benedict added, "I quote," twice before pronouncing the phrases on Islam and described them as "brusque," while neither explicitly agreeing with nor repudiating them.

The "I QUOTE" or the "BRUSQUE"?

I'm no fan of Benedict, but I do believe he may have been deliberately misunderstood, & probably severly misquoted.

what I don't understand they can demonstrate over what some old man said, but the brutal murder of innocent people in Africa doesn't bother them a bit? I find that puzzling.

Put yourself in a situation where someone has said something about you in the past that wasn't what you believe to be the truth. There has been a long time gone by since that was said and you had paid dearly way back when for that non-true statement. Now, the statement is quoted, bringing back all the bad memories. All the prior injustices that had occurred you fear will happen again just because of a quote from the past. I think in all honesty, you would have a problem with it. After all look at the big ta-do the Jewish faith had when Mel Gibson came out with Passion of the Christ? The movie didn't say the Jews did it, but they took it that way. Maybe this is a good lesson that we should make special efforts not to include the past in our present.

Rumours are related to your question.

"I heard that Janey had sex with her dad" when said to a school counsellor will get the father in deep **** whether or not any crime was comitted.

Courts have gag orders put in place about safe subjects. If controversyt is brought up soncerning a sensitive subject the government places controls against the discussion by the media over the case.

In international instances there is a problem, because it is no longer the media that fuels the fire. It is the response of the defendant that fuels the fire, and the issues raised by the prosecutor. The media is given information and uses sociological answers to bring to light key arguments in the case.

Free speech is the issue on one side. That there is no attack being made against the Muslims. On the other hand, insinuation and judgemental lies are being introduced from a person of high authority.

If you want an example of such a case see the issue of Clinton and Lewinski. It is freedom that the president thought he had, but any kind of sexual relations outside of standard operations was seen as illegal to the country and the media.

It was very out -of-place for him to make such insensitive comments, whether quoting ancient text or verbalizing his own opinion. He has a very important job as the leader of a vast religious organization.

He should apologize personally and make ammends. The Vatican used to work toward bringing the different faiths closer.

This idiot's ego needs some serious trimming.

Definitey deliberately misunderstood. The Christians in other countries have been under physical attack prior to this. They are looking for a "politically correct" reason.

No hon, I think they get the part about the quote and the brusque .... it's the fact he used it as an example to show how idiotic jihad's and holy wars are.

How angry would you be if he stepped on your foot and poked you in the eye and then said 'oh, you took me out of context'?

Do you really expect any-one in the Islamic faith to Understand what is being said in another language.

They claim that Ancient Arabic is the perfect language and you must know it in order to appreciate the Quran.

Angry Muslims (the ones that are angry mind you) don't understand that anger is on the way out and hatreds are on the way out and lusts are on the way out.

The Lord approaches quickly. The world and the majority of religious adherents including Muslims are in wonder about the few that are protesting this latest exchange of angry words and the few who have committed angry acts.

Benny was just quoting what someone else had said and published. He never said that he agreed with it.
