What's up with men who refer to themselves as "Big Daddy"?

Or with women who call their mates "Daddy or Big Daddy"? I just don't find it sexy to refer to anyone as "daddy". I love my father and he's the last person I want to be thinking of if I'm feeling sexy. Am I being a stick in the mud? Should I go along with this or stand firm?

SOme men...all men who say "big daddy" are trying to gain a position of domanance. they want to control, by saying "big daddy" they're trying to be "king" in a way of sorts. your best bet is to tell "Big Daddy" to stop being a "little *****"

I feel exactly the same way you feel. I would never call a man I am with "Daddy". I can understand cute nicknames but "Daddy" I think not. If you notice most of the men that call themselves this don't even take care of the children they have and I don't see why they want to be given this title when they really have no idea what it truly means. You are definitely not a stick in the mud, you just have respect and please don't lower yourself to this stupidity.

I assume you're asking because your significant other wants you to call him that if not, why worry about it?

There are a number of reasons why people use "Daddy" as a term of affection one of which, of course, is that he is a daddy and you get in the habit of calling him that for your children. This can lead to children growing up thinking that moms always (both now, in the past, and when they're not around) call their father "daddy", so when they grow up and marry, it's natural to call their spouse daddy or mommy. It can also loosely be used like "Big Dog". Then there's the expression "Who's your daddy".... which tends to crop up occasionally in movies and causes impressionable boys to think that it's either appropiate or humorous pillow talk.

But again, talk to your significant other about it, and work out your own "pet" names fro each other.

I'm not sure why or what it has to do with, but me personally I hate to be called "Daddy or Big Daddy" by any female that I'm with. I have three daughters and they are the only one that I want to here call me "Daddy".

Get a new nickname, or what else has you girl been doing with her daddy?

I'm with Whidd....Dudes that call themselves Big Daddy are compensating for their small wee wee.

  • Hey to each their own. I like don't mind it. And if a couple had kids, they are a daddy so i don't see what's wrong!

  • Thank you for saying this.

I threw a girl out of my house for this.

We hooked up at a bar, I took her home... we got it on... and she started doing that.

Called me daddy once... I like... stopped and was like "Seriously... don't call me that."

About 10 minutes later she did it again... I pulled out and told her to get the f*** out. Total turn off.

When spanish girls call me papi it's cool though. Is that weird?

if you don't like it don't do it, and if he is doing it ask him to stop.... the only reason i call my hubby daddy is when i am talking for our child. no weird things for me either.

You do whatever makes you comfortable! If you don't like the term, don't use it. Happy Monday!
