Is Saddam Hussein's trial a farce?

We've had judges thrown out because of obvious prejudice. We've had entire teams of defense lawyers kidnapped, shot, and assassinated. And that's when they're not being thrown out of the courtroom for even trying to make objections.

Don't get me wrong here... I'm not saying Saddam Hussein should be allowed to run free and play with butterflies. What I'm wondering is what is the point of an obviously screwed up trial? Should Iraqis abandon the pretense and just shoot him? Is there something they can do to restore repectability to the process? Should they ship the whole thing to more neutral territory as they do with many accused of war crimes? Or is there really nothing wrong with what's going on?

What do you think?

I have to agree with you. It is a farce. The sad thing is, they should still be able to convict him with a fair and impartial trial. I hate to see Iraq get off on the wrong foot here. Unfair trials and rapid executions? They've already done that. The one truth about an unfair system of justice is that it impacts the innocent and the guilty alike.

properly, its no longer US-kind justice. The court docket which will convict him includes politically adversarial and religiously opposed Iraqis. he's very just about absolute to be convicted and has no genuine hazard for disguise. From that perspective the trial is a farce.

That trial is a travesty of justice, there has been little if no respect for the judges and the system. Do I think Saddam is going to go free, no. His antics should have been controlled long ago.

I think that judge saw a bad thing to be in the middle of and decided to take the easy out. No matter what the vertic is there will be alot of pissed off people at you. Would be best to have an accident which dies from.

Saddam Hussein as far as I'm concerned is just another Adolf Hitler and should have the same things done to him that he did to the Kurd's and other people. I can't help it he just isn't human. There just isn't anything I can think of animal enough or low and sorry enough to classify him with for the things he and Hitler did to people.
