Reporting Abuse: When will the PC cops ever get it right?

From time to time I've had answers reported for abuse. That's OK...some of my answers are designed to ruffle feathers. However, what I find amusing is those answers targeted for abuse reports are most often the most benign, jokes, or, based on the reason given, completely misunderstood by the reader.

If you're gonna report something as 'abuse'...please, Please, PLEASE, at least make an attempt to understand the comment or question you're objecting to.

Anyone else experience the same?

Update:

The logical conclusion from Marvinator's answer is sad: We live in a humorless society.

I agree. The guidelines are (mostly) pretty clear, and the TOS, more so.

There are plenty of actual abuses for those who feel the need to report. But I've been reported for answering someone trying to sell a business partnership with "I can't imagine anyone wanting to invest with a stranger . . ." and pointing out that it was a violation. Of course I immediately reported the commercial post after that!

I used to think that sarcastic, pointed and sharp answers to silly questions, if worded within the guidelines (I'm VERY good at saying quite nasty things politely. <g> It's even more fun if the person they're directed at doesn't get it.) would prevent a violation from "sticking." I've learned, however, that contesting a violation seems only to put one into an endless loop of form emails. I haven't yet given up, and may continue replying to the form letters forever.

Jokes fall under abuse, as they are neither questions nor real answers. Hence, any jokes which were reported are still reported within guidlines.
