Does anyone know of any good sites to do a blog with uploading capabilities?
I'm looking for a blogging site that allows you to upload external documents such as word documents that is also free.

The new HDDWeb! Many sites today are social networks with occasional features, their goal is to be a web service site that happens to have a social network for your convenience.
Spice up your web blog with our Blog Upload service. You can easily upload photos, images, videos and even play background music on your web blog. Best of all, we host it all for FREE! (Proven to work with Xanga, Live Journal, Blogger, Wordpress, Dead Journal, and much more) Key Features:
Ease: One click file upload and an HTML code generator does the rest!
No Bandwidth Limit: Unlike other sites we don't cap you if you reach a certain network usage!
Direct Linking: We ENCOURAGE you to link to your media files directly from your blog!
File Management: You can view all your files and delete them with ONE click of a button.

Blog Advice for Teachers - Uploading Documents

I need some advice. I’m looking for a blogging service, preferably free, that can support document uploading. This tends to be the one “catch” for teachers that are getting into blogging. They want to upload an assignment/document/etc. and most of the free services don’t quite get there. What work-arounds/services are people using?

Jon, Wordpress.com (not ORG) allows free Wordpress blogs that allow 15 megs of image uploads. It will be difficult to find a commercial service that will allow uploads since these have been abused in the past by file traders.
Have you considered Ourmedia.org ?
There’s also PutFile.com…25 meg limit for free accounts.
Hope this helps,

Have you looked at Elgg? (http://elgg.net)/ I can blog, wiki and upload files there. I’m not currently using it with students since mine are younger than 13, but I’ve used it to move files around and play and it has worked well.

One option would be to use pbwiki.com to host the materials. A free account provides 10MB of file space.

Another option (got this via Steve Dembo back in August) is rwlo.org where you get 10 Mb space for uploading, can display your blog as part of this and files can be made public or private. It’s provided by The PT3 Pathways Project - not sure if an Aussie teacher should be using their resources but they didn’t knock me back! Check my example at wegner.rwlo.org

I ue OurMedia to upload an unlimited amount and size of media for publishing in my blog.
Here’s an attempt at trying to out line everything you need to teach and learn online.
