well i just spent $180 on a new memory stick for my laptop. It's a 1.2.... i just use this computer for school purposes and other small things...i'm not a big gamer...i'm going to install the beta version of windows vista and i was told the minimum system requirments was that memory. So i got it...but then after that i was told that vista could run on 512mb i'm like What?? so did i just waste my money?

Not at all. If you upgrade you memory it will help the laptop to run faster comapred to previous one. So dont worry its not a waste.

No, you didn't. Even if you don't wanna install Windows Vista, buying more memory is still what you should do. Remember, the more memory you have, the faster your computer runs - This is right in most cases. 512MB is vista minimum requirement, but you need more to be able to use all its features. So that's a good decision!

If you can get a refund at the same price you paid for it then you could if you want. If you're using your computer for just school purposes you wouldn't need too much RAM because most school projects don't take up that much processor power. The only reason you would need RAM is if you run multiple programs, for example, sixteen instances of Word or so. Or if you're using programs that are processor intensive [such as rendering 3d models or playing "modern' games].

Yes dear. 180 is a lot of money to be spent without thinking. But now you cant do a thing with it except use it. The brighter side - your computer has become faster - it brings up a word file 0.0025 seconds faster than before.

If you do not do any heavy intensive activity, you might not notice the changes, but in the long run, as software titles become more demanding, the extra memory will satisfy the requirements.
