Is it good to give money to a preschooler when he goes to school?
He takes with him food for his snacks. Is it a good idea to give him money too to let him buy something he wants from the school canteen just in case ?

I think doing this once in a while as a treat is a good thing. Not only does he get to feel like a big boys and feel special, but kids are never too young to learn the value of money.

I cant believe a preschooler needs any money. The preschool in my neighborhood is only 2-3 hours long depending on the childs age. Even if it is longer where you live, I would think it would be best to pack your childs lunch and maybe once in a while let him choose somthing from the canteen as a special treat. This way you know what he is eating on a daily basis.

I have a preschooler and he is beyond the point of putting things in his mouth that aren't supposed to be there. If I send money with him to school, I usually put it in a ziplock baggie with an explanation of what it is to be used for on a piece of paper. We have snack days every Friday. They cost 25 cents, so I doubt we'll go broke letting him buy something once or twice a month.

I wouldn't do that for a few reasons: 1) the risk of him losing the money is pretty high, 2) the risk of him or another student placing money in their mouths and swallowing it is a potential problem (believe me, preschoolers put everything in their mouths!) and 3) do you really want your preschooler choosing what his snacks are? Chances are he won't be making very healthy choices. If you think he's still hungry, pack an extra snack for him-skip sending him with money.

It is no problem as long as your child has the resposibility to use it for snacks. I give my daughter money school lunch and snacks. she feels like a big girl when she can pay for her own stuff. also it depends on how much money you are giving your child. You don't want your child walking around school with more than at least 5 dollars.

i would not recommend this. as some of the others have pointed out the child may not make the best decision when it comes to food and also others may put it in their mouth. another reason would be what if your child loses it and you have only sent them with a small lunch? your child may be hungry for the rest of the day. we all know that when children are hungry then children are cranky.
however if your child's school offers a lunch program like some in my area (they have days where the school brings in lunches for the children, like subs, pizzas, and pitas) for a cost to the parents then i would say absolutely! just send your child with snacks and drinks and have a happy day!
Good Luck!

Just a I dollar cause if you give him about four dollars he'll lose them right away just stick to taking snacks to school thats what my little brother does and he's in preschool too.

Does the preschool allow children to bring money?
I feel that preschoolers should not carry money as it is likely to get lost / stolen. If he is taking sufficient, good food anyway he shouldn't need anything.

Honestly I don't think so. A pre-schooler is most definately not responsible enough to handle money. If your child needs to buy something at school, then you go to the school and do it for them. You should take care of money for your child up until they are out of elementary school in my opinion. So good luck.

If you thinnk he can keep it without loosing it, yes, but alot of kids ask for money and if he isn't responsible enough, he can end up giving it to some kid for a plastic dinosaur. It all depends on how much you trust him.
