Are home made french fries healthy?

    well, what do you need for fries? potatoes, oil, and maybe salt.

    a potatoe by itself isn't bad. it's natural and contains potassium and fiber. as for oil, opt for a healthy kind like olive or peanut oil that contain mono and poly-unsaturated fat. use a moderate amount to keep the fat under control. (even good fat can still add up). and finally, use the salt sparingly at the end. i don't think ketchup is too bad, but if you're really anal, there is a brand of ketchup out there with only one gram of carbs.

    it doesn't matter if it is a homemade or buying in a food chain...we are talking about too much oil and oil are fats.....if you want a healthy food like rich in protein but not french fries...

    At least its healthier than the ones selling in fast food chains..but still its not healthy for daily consumption...fries make us fat and if have it too too too much, arteries may be blocked =)

    They're probably not too bad if you bake them instead of deep fring them. Without too much oil. I still can't imagine them being on the healthy food pyramid any time soon..

    It should be more delicious because your oil is cleaner and the potatoes are fresher (not ones that have been frozen for years), but healthwise, it's the same as in the shops.

    since they come from a potato and a potato is a veggie, i think they are .

    Here's the catch: You have to bake them. You cannot fry them or they become fattening.
