Steve, my Buddhist beta fish, is curious about other religions. Can you take fish to church?

Steve the fish, who, as you may remember if you read the first question I posted about him (sadly, it was deleted, what is Y!A thinking these days?) is a devout Buddhist. He meditates daily and has a statue of Buddha in his bowl. However, he wants to learn more about other religions. Can I take my fish (in his bowl, of course) into a church, synogouge, or mosque? Or should I just help him set up an account here on Y!A and let him ask questions? What do you guys think?

Everyone is pretty much accepting and might just think that it's a pretty cute idea. Just plan ahead (well not too much) and make sure that you don't have the bowl overflowing or to the rim. Though It would be also nice to see a fishy asking questions on yahoo answers once in a while.

    Have a wonderful day.

I hate to be pedantic, but the name of the fish should be spelled with two T's. Betta. Or you could call him a Siamese fighting fish.

Regardless of spelling, I think that giving him access to Y!A is a capital idea. It will save him a lot of unnecessary jostling and he'll get opinions not limited to your geographical area, but from all over the world. All hail the internet!

I think you should talk to your local religious figures and suggest that they hold an extra service on Sundays. The service should take place in a large swimming pool. In addition to the regular congregation, all and any finned friends are invited to attend.

    PS-No fishing permitted during services.

Hmmm... New verse for the next edition of the Bible?

"You can take a fish to church, but you can't lead a horse to the water of life?"

Maybe it doesn't make sense, but it does have a certain ring to it!

Keep Steve away from the Catholic church on Fridays during lent.

Of course, take him to a Catholic church. We take all of our animals on the feast day of saint Francis of Assisi ( I think it's this saint) to get blessed. People take there dogs, cats, Betta's and even a donkey to get blessed. The best one is off of the Placita Olvera. Next time, I'm taking my Betta, pudgy, to get blessed.

Clean the water in his bowl regularly, feed him daily and he'll worship you. My betta fish are all Red Sox fans.

Take a catfish and strap a cherry-bomb on it, and drop it in the bowl with Steve. Now Steve can learn about Islam.
