First birthday party!?

My dd will be one on Thursday anyone have any ideas for games or things we could do and give her at a later date... I though that we would all write her a note and put it in a box and give to her when she is older....

Any others????

One thing, we did at our son's first birthday party, that people really liked was have a slide show. We scanned a ton of pictures from when he was born up to his first birthday, had the pix on a computer, and used a projector pointed at a blank wall for the show, we even put music to it...kid's music, so the other kids at the party sat and watched, and they sang the songs. It kept the kids entertained and the adult party guests could watch the slide show. Just an idea from one mommy to another :-)

I had everyone write my daughter a note telling her about the first time they saw her. In my instance, a friend was present for her birth and wrote the most wonderful letter for her. I have this saved with a lot of pictures for her. For the first party, invite all family and any friends you want. This is mostly an adult party for a 1 year old. Make a cake that will be fun for her to eat. I made a Red Velvet Cake for my oldest. Don't be surprised if there isn't someone who encourages her to put her hands in the cake and then in her hair! Take lots of pictures of her. Also, early in the day for her first arrange to have her picture professionally taken so that it will be preserved for ever. I did this with all my girls. Let her have fun. She won't understand the presents or the cake, but she'll love the taste.

When my son turned one a few months ago, we put a hat on his head, put him in his high chair, and put the whole cake in front of him. We let him get covered in it and he threw it all over the place....some might not like this, but we find the pictures cute now. We let him tear apart from presents too...he didn't care about the gifts, obviously, but he loved ripping the paper off. Makes for some cute pics, which are the most important years from now.

Have each guest bring something small to mark the first year and put it in a "time capsule". Like a paper from that day or TV Guide from this month, etc.

We did the capsule idea and take lots of pictures. I gave my dd a box of tissues wrapped up and let her tear them apart one by one! she had a ball...

Relax and enjoy your little one.

Whatever you do, make sure you take lots of pictures at every occasion and if you can video tape. Kids grow up so fast and before you know it they will get big.

A video of all your guests from her birthday party.

Get a video recorder and record everything! Party or no party.

Just so she can watch it later and say at least you did something for her.

    Cakes are unhealthy!
