When do pecan trees drop their nuts in Central Arkansas?
We have a large pecan tree in our backyard that is at least 150 years old. It dropped nuts once before, but this is the first year the co nditions have been right for fruit to form. I am anxiously awaiting the tree to drop the nuts and I want to be sure I am ready to go pick them up before the animals hoard them!

As others have said from mid to late Oct. FYI the way to preserve the freshness of your new crop of pecans is to freeze them. Shelling them takes less room but you can freeze them with the shells on. There is a company that has shelling machines and travels all over Missouri and Arkansas that will shell your pecans. They also buy them and you may find you will have more than you need. So they pay a good price considering. They advertise in all the local papers when it is harvest time.

I live in Southern Illinois. It's about the right time now. Some trees will hold them until mid Oct.
