What is the worst city/suburb to look for a job?

I am a minority with a 4 year college degree I took from the country I was born and raised. Unfortunately, we moved here from my beloved Seattle (!#$%^&*) and I have to quit my respectable job there and on the first day I looked for a job here was a disaster! I mean I am not only talking here about jobs-there's also the attitude and predisposition of the people here! Young and old! Everybody's all stuck up! I mean stuck up from the city officials down to the grocery cashier. Especially these retired geriatrics who come here as "winter vultures"? They are the meanest and most 'uneducated' people that comes in this city! I am really raging mad!!! I have applied for almost all the companies here I can think of and if you are a minority trying to apply for a desk job, clerical or administrative entry level positions be very prepared of the look you will get. HR people here are mostly 'white' and listen to this: honestly, they do not know what they're doing! Oh btw, be ready to hear them say "can you fill up another application form? I can't find the one you submitted". (That is if you filled up their application at home and just came back to submit it.) No they did not lose it! They just want to see you filing it up! From your looks as a minority, they don't believe you wrote those things yourself!

Don't get me wrong: there are people here who are really very nice and they usually come from major cities themselves. And I am not forgetting the LHC Police Department - they are the most hardworking me & my husband has ever seen. Heads Up to you guys!

Add to that? Since this is a retirement, all-year long summer state? You gotta look TOO nice , TOO pretty and TOO sexy if you are looking for a job. Actually, you should be 'painted' and has this air of smugness (well, sorry but these are the things we see for 1 year we've been here comapred to a 5 star city like Seattle!). For you to become 'human' in this f.u.c.k.i.n.g city called LAKE HAVASU, ARIZONA - you must know the 'IN' people here - the rich, old, pretentious, hypocrites!

I rate this city: AWFULLY VERY POOR in terms of (1) business customer service, (2) interpersonal relations with public and (3)dealing with minorities.

Stay as far away from northeast and central PA as possible. I once saw an ad in the classified looking for a college grad. I can't remember the position but it was full time. The employer wanted someone to work holidays and be on call for different shifts. All this for a whopping $8.49/hour. Most of the jobs around here pay between $6 & $7 hour. ANd I found out that when the min wage is increased in Jan to $7.45 all the people who are now working for that amount will NOT be getting raises. In other words most of the jobs here will be min paying jobs.

If you have a college degree, that is a plus anywhere. In big cities such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Miami, Atlanta, and the like---you should be able to get a job. New Orleans is begging for people. However, if you are a minority--getting a job where there are no miniorities, could be a good place to look. I think they have to have a quota of minorities....not sure. That could be in your favor. Good Luck

Vancouver is the best right now. We have jobs everywhere. Lots of different types. Tons of construction due to the 2010 . Olympics. Every store has adds. There is a huge amount of choice right now. Sorry I guess that is the opposite of your question.
