Hate requires nothing but the effort of the emotion.
Love requires understanding, compassion, empathy, forgiveness and selflessness.
It is always easier to hate than to love.
The thing that is often overlooked is, as much as love rewards you for the effort to love, hatred punishes the same amount as love rewards, for the smaller effort of hating.

I don't know. I always wind up forgiving those I hate because I don't like using the energy to hate. It's a lot less stress on me to love then hate.

Because when you hate somebody there isn't a chance of your heart getting hurt but when you love someone then you give them a piece (or the entire thing) of your heart and therefore if they do something like cheat on you or lie to you then you end up getting hurt.

Really, love requires work and discipline. Hate just requires you to live down to your lowest instincts, and we can all sink to there effortlessly.
