Portland OR - best local place for outdoor family pictures?

I'd like to take the kids to a park or something, with lots of trees (since they are turning), maybe a bridge? Playstructures? Looking for both static shots with scenery, and something active for the kids to be doing. I'm a newbie in town - anybody have a suggestion? Willing to drive up to 45 minutes from Portland.

The schools depend on the area. I would say if you are really thinking about moving to portland and want a good public education for your kids move to the West Linn/Wilsonville/Lake Oswego area. The schools have a very good quality education; however, that also means that the area is a little more on the expensive side. But I would recommend it. This area is also more suburban and a good safe area to raise a family. It is about twenty-five minutes to downtown. The Lincoln school district (which is downtown you would need to live in the west hills/skyline/forest heights area) is also more on the expensive side, but a good school district education-wise. There are of course all the private schools all over the place if you choose that route for you kids. There are of course homes of all different price ranges, it just depends on how big of a house you need. I have lived in Portland for ten years. I have grown up here and am about to go to college next year. The one thing I don't like is that Portland gets smaller each year. The longer you live here, truly the smaller it gets. Also the weather takes some getting used to. It gets kind of dreary from february to April. I am always ready for sun around that time, but the truly sunny weather doesn't come until closer to May. I have liked growing up here. It is beautiful.

You don't have to look. There is so much to see here, you can't miss something. The biggest problem is keeping utility poles and wires, etc out of the background. Don't waste time looking, just start enjoying and taking pictures. Also stop and take some along the way.

Take them to Mt. Hood So powerful and majestic. It'll take your breath away. There are a lot of parks along the gorge towards the Dalles. Waterfalls are spectacular. One of the most scenic states. I love it!

Multmonah falls, even better - horse tail falls on the way to there. the rose gardens are always beautiful, and there are great views of the city and lovely trees up there.

Multnomah Falls , its a great place to visit in oregon, you wont regret seeing the falls, it has food outlets too but not big touristy stuff. Of course all of Oregon is great for photos ( they even have swans)
